Restarts production of flexible packaging after sale of assets.

HEREFORD, U.K., October 31, 2017 /EINPresswire.com/ -- Vision Gelpack Limited has announced that it has restarted production at its Hereford, U.K. plant on October 25.

The manufacturing plant which makes high quality polyethylene based bags and sacks serving the local authority, waste management, medical and industrial sectors has resumed operations.
UAE- based Visionscape Group purchased Gelpack Excelsior’s plant and business assets which entered administration in July 2017 resulting in the loss of 175 jobs.

“Polyethylene bag production dates back to the late 1950’s on this site and it was sad day when the machines were turned off in late July of this year.
However, the Visionscape Group recognized the tremendous potential in the people and capabilities of Gelpack and how its operations aligned with the Group’s efforts towards implementing a closed loop system- actively operating within a circular business model throughout its value chains that is committed to resource recovery and efficiency. Visionscape seeks to embed circular economy initiatives on a global scale throughout its operations with a focus on delivering utilities management solutions in emerging markets.” said Geoff Davis, Managing Director, Vision Gelpack.

Employment and production have been restored twelve weeks after the business was purchased by the Visionscape Group. Vision Gelpack will continue the tradition of the 60- year old business with a new outlook, operating responsibly within the Group’s global circular operations which focus on reducing waste in manufacturing processes, renewables and repurposed products.

Davis added “Most importantly we have started to re-employ some of those whose positions were made redundant and it was an emotional moment for all of us when the first production lines started up again several days ago. There is no doubt that Vision Gelpack is a front runner in the development and production of high quality thin gauge films and this will now continue under new ownership.
