The Department of Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation (DPME) to Launch NDP School Competition

The Department of Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation (DPME) in partnership with the Department of Basic Education (DBE) will launch the annual National Development Plan (NDP) school debate and essay competition as part of the fifth anniversary celebration of the adoption of the NDP under the theme “Define your Ideal South Africa of 2030 and play your part”.

The competition seeks to create awareness and educate youth about the NDP 2030 as an overarching plan for the country, highlight the importance of education as one of the NDP outcomes and encourage society to play their part in making vision 2030 a success.

18 learners who are in grades, 11 and 12 comprising of nine teams from all nine provinces have been selected to participate in debate competition that Minister in the Presidency for Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation and Chairperson of the National Planning Commission will officially launch on Tuesday 26th September 2017.

The debate will be on topics such as, “What can be done to achieve the goals of vision 2030” and will be judged by representatives from the DPME, DBE, National Planning Commission (NPC) and the National Youth Development Agency (NYDA).

The essay competition will be targeted at grade 12 learners with the essay topic; “Define your ideal SA of 2030”.

Details of the events are as follows: 1st session, first round eliminations Date: Monday, 25 Sept 2017 Time: 08h00 – 14h00 Venue: DPME offices, Grosvenor and Francis Baard Street, Hatfield, Pretoria.

2nd session, Debate session and pronouncement of winners and prize giving Date: Tuesday, 26 Sept 2017 Time: 10h00 to 14h00 Venue: GCIS Auditorium, Tshedimosetso House, 1035 Francis Baard and Festival Street, Hatfield, Pretoria.
