/EINPresswire.com/ -- LOS ANGELES, CA--(Marketwired - August 08, 2017) - U.S.-based global entertainment company Tang Media Partners (TMP) today announced that Rob Friedman would be joining the company as Chairman and CEO of a newly formed division, TMP Entertainment. In his role, Friedman will oversee all of TMP's entertainment properties, from film to television to digital, including Open Road Films, IM Global, and IM Global Television, and will report directly to Donald Tang, Chairman and CEO of TMP.

Recently TMP announced the acquisition of Open Road Films, which together with the ownership of IM Global and IM Global Television, provides TMP Entertainment with the ability to create, develop, finance, produce, market, and distribute movies, television and digital content in the U.S., China, and internationally. As part of the new TMP Entertaiment structure, Tom Ortenberg will remain the CEO of Open Road, reporting to Friedman.

Friedman brings three decades of experience to TMP Entertainment across the traditional studio and content sectors in a career that has spanned distribution, marketing and executive leadership atop some of the industry's most successful companies. He most recently served as Co-Chairman of Lionsgate Motion Picture Group from 2012-2017, following Lionsgate's acquisition of Summit Entertainment, a company he founded and built into a leading motion picture production and distribution company. While at Lionsgate, Friedman was in charge of all aspects of Lionsgate's feature film acquisition, production and distribution operations.

During his time as Co-Chairman and CEO at Summit Entertainment Friedman and his partner Patrick Wachsberger built a worldwide marketing and distribution platform for the studios' releases which included the blockbuster "Twilight" franchise and Oscar-winning movie, "The Hurt Locker." Friedman also served Vice Chairman and later Chief Operating Officer of the Paramount Motion Picture Group from 1997-2005. Friedman began his career at Warner Bros. where he held numerous positions as part of a long career with the studio.

Headquartered in Los Angeles, TMP completed a major round of funding earlier this year from its broad base of strategic shareholders and partners, including Tencent Holdings. Tang and his U.S. investors are the majority shareholders of TMP.
