Dr. Szlyk is scheduled to speak on Thursday, June 22 at 2pm. Her presentation titled, “Regional Anesthesia and Bundled Payments – Opioid-sparing Pain Management for Optimal Outcomes” will discuss Enhanced Recovery After Surgery (ERAS) protocols for joint replacement, review the positive impact of regional anesthesia throughout the episode of care and spotlight the key components of successful value-based orthopedic care – all while providing alternative solutions to opioids.

“Regional anesthesia plays a vital role in ensuring optimal outcomes for patients,” said Dr. Szlyk. “Nerve blocks provide excellent pain control and minimize perioperative narcotic requirements. Patients have less post-operative nausea and vomiting, and feel more alert after surgery. This enables patients to safely undergo complex joint replacement, sports medicine and spine procedures on an outpatient basis while driving down costs, leading to higher patient and surgeon satisfaction.”

Dr. Davis will be participating in two panel discussions on Thursday, June 22, “The State of the ACA and Its Impact on Practices” at 11:45 am and “Mergers and Acquisitions in Anesthesia & Pain Management” at 3:30 pm. The first panel discussion will focus on how the Affordable Care Act (ACA) has impacted surgery centers and physician practices, diving into discussions on the impact of Medicaid and health insurance reform and will explore strategies healthcare facilities can take during this time of uncertainty in order to survive proposed healthcare reforms. The second panel will focus on the current state of mergers and acquisitions in the surgery center space. The panelists will discuss the current landscape for surgery centers, best practices for preparing for a sale and what matters in terms of valuations.
