KAR Auction Services Honored with Two Prestigious Awards by United Way of Central Indiana
CARMEL, Ind., June 06, 2017 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- KAR Auction Services, Inc. (NYSE:KAR), a global vehicle remarketing and technology solutions provider, announced today that it was honored with two prestigious awards from United Way of Central Indiana. KAR Chairman and CEO Jim Hallett was named Exceptional Executive for 2017, and KAR was recognized with the Spirit United Award, the United Way’s highest corporate honor.
“At KAR, community involvement is one of our core values – giving back is what we do. And through our Leap Into Service program, we provide all employees with paid time off to volunteer with organizations that benefit our diverse communities,” said Hallett. “The United Way is one of KAR’s marquee causes, and it’s an honor to support them and be recognized with these two awards.”
The United Way of Central Indiana hosted its annual meeting on June 6, where supporters and contributors were recognized with individual and company awards. The Spirit United Award is United Way’s most prestigious company award and was given to four companies that have consistently supported and generously donated to the United Way of Central Indiana. The Exceptional Executive individual award is given to a business leader who has made a significant impact on the community.
“I’ve seen first-hand how United Way strengthens our communities and helps build a brighter future for our families, friends and neighbors,” said Hallett. “Our employees really came together to support the UWCI this year. I’m proud to share these awards with them and eager to see what we can accomplish together through this year’s campaign.”
Each year, KAR participates in an annual United Way Giving Campaign, during which employees are encouraged to donate. KAR then matches all employee contributions dollar for dollar. Last year, KAR raised more than $240,000 through campaign activities.
