Media Alert: Canada’s healthcare leaders to explore value-based healthcare on June 12th and 13th, 2017 in Vancouver, BC

OTTAWA, June 05, 2017 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- More than 700 health leaders, health policy experts and trustees will convene in Vancouver for the National Health Leadership Conference (NHLC) on June 12th and 13th and confront pressing issues that are driving the need for change in Canada’s healthcare system through the lens of value-based healthcare and a patient and family-centred approach.

Event highlights:

  • A national survey of health leaders about major current healthcare issues will be unveiled along with insights on public opinion regarding these issues (the report will be released on Friday, June 9, 2017 under embargo until Monday, June 12 at 12 h 01 am).  The survey will include questions on Indigenous Health, cybersecurity and critical infrastructure, the opioid crisis and valued-based healthcare.
     
  • The Honourable Jane Philpott, Minister of Health will open the conference speaking about the federal government’s health and healthcare priorities, on Monday, June 12 at 8:30 am.
     
  • The Great Canadian Healthcare Debate: delegates will debate the top 3 motions aimed at making a significant impact on the health system and creating lasting pathways to innovation and change.  Jeffrey Simpson, former National Affairs Columnist for the Globe and Mail will moderate the debate.
     
  • Plenary speakers and panelists include Dan Collard, international speaker with Studer Group and former chief operating officer in the US, Dr. Nadine Caron, Associate professor at the Northern Medical Program at University of British Columbia and Co-Director of the UBC Centre for Excellence in Indigenous Health, Joe Gallagher, CEO of the First Nations Health Authority, Ted Quewezance, Chair of the Senate of the Federation of Sovereign Indigenous Nations of Saskatchewan, Duncan McCue, Reporter and Host of CBC Cross Country Checkup and Arlene Dickinson, Dragons’ Den Personality, Entrepreneur and Marketing Communications Expert.
     
  • More than 30 concurrent sessions will galvanize the community around the importance of stimulating transformation and improvement while creating a “change culture” of continuous improvement.
