Advanced Biofuels Canada (ABFC) announces a significant expansion of its membership. Clean fuel policies open window for industry growth.

VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA, CANADA, May 11, 2017 /EINPresswire.com/ -- Advanced Biofuels Canada (ABFC) announces a significant expansion of its membership.

“Our new members bring a wealth of next generation biofuels technologies and knowledge to our association. Deploying both commercially proven and demonstrated technologies in Canada will change the paradigm of what advanced biofuels can accomplish in a low carbon future,” observed ABFC board chair, Ron Cardwell. “Our organization’s outlook comes from producers who have pioneered the hard work to open up markets for advanced biofuels in Canada, married with the view of companies who are bringing game-changing technologies to market. Both are needed to lower the carbon emissions from transport fuels in Canada.”

The new members span technology developers to fuel marketers:

Cellufuel Inc. is currently operating a demonstration-scale facility producing clean synthetic diesel from low-value forestry residues.

Ensyn Corporation has a 30-year history of innovation and commercial deployment of fast thermal cracking of carbon-based feedstocks, including woody biomass, producing renewable chemicals, and ‘biocrude’ for thermal applications or co-processing with refinery feedstocks for the production of transportation fuels.

Iogen is a leader in developing and implementing technology to make second generation biofuels, converting the non-food portion of plants into renewable transportation fuels with low greenhouse gas emissions.

LanzaTech has a globally deployed gas fermentation technology which converts carbon-rich wastes and residues from industrial processes into valuable chemical products and fuels, including sustainable aviation fuel.

The federal government commenced its Clean Fuel Standard consultation in January 2017; the regulation will make Canada the first country to implement a national clean fuel standard.
