Triloma EIG Energy Income Funds Participate in First International Transaction

/EINPresswire.com/ -- ORLANDO, FL--(Marketwired - February 21, 2017) - Triloma EIG Energy Income Fund and Triloma EIG Energy Income Fund - Term I (the "Funds") announced today that they are participating, alongside certain other EIG-managed private funds and accounts, in a $425 million senior secured first lien note issuance by New Age African Global Energy Ltd. (New Age). The note was originated, negotiated and structured by EIG Global Energy Partners on behalf of its managed investment vehicles.

New Age is a privately held oil and gas company with a portfolio of assets in seven countries, most in sub-Saharan Africa. Their strategy focuses on assets in emerging regions they believe are undervalued. The note matures in four years and is secured by a first lien security interest in New Age's existing development assets.

"The Funds continue to benefit from EIG's global sourcing and origination platform to identify international investment opportunities as we further diversify and grow the Funds' portfolios," said Deryck Harmer, president and CEO of the Funds.

The Funds offer individuals an opportunity to invest in U.S. and non-U.S. energy company and project debt, in many instances alongside institutional investors. The New Age investment is the first time the Funds have participated in an international investment transaction alongside EIG's private funds.

The Funds' investments in various types of debt securities and instruments may be secured, unsecured, rated and unrated, are subject to non-payment risk, and may be speculative in nature. Investments in senior secured debt present additional risks, including that there is a higher risk of default than with investment-grade bonds. Generally, investments in debt securities with longer-term maturities are subject to greater volatility than investments in shorter-term obligations. The Funds' investments in energy companies expose the Funds to risks associated with adverse economic, environmental or regulatory occurrences affecting the energy sector, a higher volatility of the market and a downturn in the energy sector could have a larger impact on the Funds than on funds that are broadly diversified across many sectors and industries.
