Press release on the capture of Russian nationals, crew members of BBC Caribbean, in Nigeria
The Russian Embassy in Abuja reports that on February 5, an armed attack on the cargo ship BBC Caribbean owned by Briese Schiffahrts (Germany) took place in the territorial waters of Nigeria. Seven Russian nationals, members of the crew, were among those taken hostage.
Russian diplomats in Nigeria are maintaining contacts with Nigerian officials and representatives of the ship owning company in order to establish the location and to safely liberate the sailors within the shortest possible time.
