PotashCorp Matching Cash Donations to Saskatchewan’s Food Banks

Saskatoon, Saskatchewan – Together with representatives of Food Banks of Saskatchewan, PotashCorp announced the return of its matching gift program to help more families enjoy a healthy meal this holiday season.

“PotashCorp is committed to programs that support food security – globally and in our local communities,” said Jochen Tilk, President and Chief Executive Officer of PotashCorp. “The holiday season brings people together and food is an important part of that celebration. Our matching gift program encourages people to share in that sense of community and to remember that we are part of a bigger family in a province that cares.”

PotashCorp will match the first $500,000 in cash donations to Saskatchewan food banks through December 31st. Since 2010, PotashCorp’s matching gift program has helped raised more than $15 million for Saskatchewan food banks. This includes more than $6 million in support from PotashCorp.

The money raised helps provide food hampers through the holiday season and supports the year-round efforts of food banks to meet the growing need for assistance.

“Some of our fondest memories are of enjoying the love and warmth of Christmas dinner surrounded by friends and family,” said Steve Compton, Executive Director of Food Banks of Saskatchewan. “This holiday season, with the help of our great corporate and community partners, we are hoping to provide for those families in need.  Everyone can help feed hope for deserving families in our community.”

As the world’s largest crop nutrient company, PotashCorp plays an integral role in global food production. The company produces the three essential nutrients required to help farmers grow healthier, more abundant crops. With global population rising and diets improving in developing countries, crop nutrients such as potash, phosphates and nitrogen offer a responsible and practical solution to help produce the food we need, from the land we have..
