TAMPA, FL--(Marketwired - November 23, 2016) - Halo, Purely for Pets® made a donation of their high quality mix 'n mores™ to enhance more than 188,000 bowls of kibble and provide a protein boost to homeless pets at the Alberta Animal Rescue Crew Shelter (AARCS) in Calgary. The generous donation was made possible by a collaboration between Halo, PetSmart Canada, Freekibble.com and GreaterGood.org.

AARCS is a non-profit animal rescue organization dedicated to making a difference in the lives of animals in the Alberta area. Made up of a large network of volunteers, foster homes and animal lovers, AARCS takes in more than 250 pets each month from rural communities and plans to use the Halo donation in their quarantine and intake facility as well as in their foster system.

"This high-quality food donation from Halo will help the hundreds of pets we have under our care that are suffering from loss of appetite and many digestive issues as a result of being relocated from their home," said Lindsay Black at AARCS. "Helping restore appetites and nourish our pets back to health is the first step toward preparing them to be adopted into a new loving home."

For its part in the donation, PetSmart Canada helped to facilitate the transportation of the donated Halo food from its Canadian distribution centres to the AARCS. The Calgary-based animal welfare organization is also one of PetSmart Charities of Canada's valued adoption partners. They bring adoptable pets to PetSmart Charities of Canada's in-store adoption centres and events so they have the best chance possible at finding their forever family.
