/EINPresswire.com/ -- OTTAWA, ON--(Marketwired - October 27, 2016) - NAV CANADA President & CEO Neil Wilson is pleased to announce the appointment of Alexander (Sandy) Struthers, to the position of Executive Vice President, Finance and Chief Financial Officer, effective December 3, 2016. Struthers replaces Brian Aitken who will be retiring December 2, 2016.

At Hydro One, Struthers held progressively more senior roles including the positions of Hydro One's Chief Information Officer, Chief Financial Officer and Chief Operating Officer. As Hydro One's Chief Financial Officer from 2009 to 2014 Struthers was accountable for its external financial reporting and ensuring that the company had sufficient funds to carry out its expanding capital and maintenance programs. He oversaw OSC/SEC public company regulatory filings, all aspects of accounting and financial reporting, internal controls, treasury and cash management, corporate tax, decision support and business planning, pension plan, regulatory affairs, and human relations and labour relations. In the dual role of Chief Administrative Officer and Chief Financial Officer he oversaw corporate risk, real estate and facilities, fleet, procurement, and contract management.

As the Executive Vice President Strategic Planning and Chief Operating Officer, Struthers had accountability for the safe delivery of the capital and operating programs and oversaw the company's asset planning, engineering, construction, forestry and electricity transmission and distribution system maintenance and operations. In 2015, Struthers oversaw a capital and operating budget of $2.5B, a 5,000 person workforce, and had a significant role in Hydro One's successful IPO.

Prior to joining Hydro One Struthers was a partner in a national accounting firm.

Struthers holds a CPA, CA designation and is a Member of the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants, and a Member of the Institute of Corporate Directors. He has an MBA from York University and a Bachelor of Commerce from Queen's University.
