Forsight Vision, Ltd. Supports Children's Education with Fundraising Campaign

LONG GROVE, Ill., Sept. 25, 2016 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The current fundraising initiative kicked off in August to support the efforts of local non-profit school organizations that enrich learning and help students in need. The team is honored to provide children with necessary comprehensive eye exams to help set them on the path for academic success. The fundraiser runs through October 31. Parents who schedule a children’s eye exam during this period enable Forsight Vision, Ltd. to donate to local non-profit organizations.

Poor vision and eye conditions left untreated can impact learning and academic performance. The American Optometric Association states that up to 80 percent of a child’s learning occurs through their eyes. Good vision is necessary for the basic skills of reading and writing and in application to board and computer visualization in the classroom. Poor vision can interfere with academic performance and participation in sports.

Forsight Vision, Ltd. recognizes that distance learning isn’t the only visual issue developing children struggle with. Comprehensive eye exams are designed to evaluate children for eye focus, eye tracking, visual perception, and eye-hand coordination, which ensure that eyes are functioning and moving together as a team. Children who are experiencing these difficulties may exhibit symptoms such as headaches, latent reading skills, short attention span, and difficulties with retaining information after having read it.

With this is mind, Forsight Vision, Ltd. is encouraging parents to partner with them to raise funds that support students and schools through local non-profit organizations. Eye exams for Illinois kindergarteners are due by October 15, making it necessary to schedule eye exams quickly to get them in before the deadline.

“There are so many amazing non-profit groups providing students of all ages with access to innovative programs or that simply want to assist students in need,” said Dr. Todd Cohan. “Because learning and vision are so closely tied, we wanted to build relationships with local non-profits and utilize the concept of vision health as a springboard to generate valuable donations to kids in our community. By caring for their own children, parents of our youngest patients can also feel good about helping support their kids classmates and neighbors.”

Dr. Todd Cohan, O.D. and Dr. Emily Pott, O.D. of Forsight Vision, Ltd. have served residents of Long Grove, Arlington Heights, Buffalo Grove, Deer Park, Hawthorn Woods, Kildeer, Lake Zurich, Lincolnshire, Mundelein, Palatine, Riverwoods and Vernon Hills since 2007.
