In Kiev activists blocked the work of the IMF office

LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM, September 14, 2016 /EINPresswire.com/ -- Today in the center of Kiev around fifty representatives of the organization "European Council of students in Ukraine" blocked the entrance to the Representative Office of the International Monetary Fund in Ukraine, not allowing workers to get to their working places.
Half-naked protesters were holding banners "Gontareva and Yanukovych - partners at money laundering!", "No return Yanukovych billions - no credit IMF!", "IMF, don't feed corruption!".
According to the organizer of the protest Mikhail Mazurenko, the purpose of the action - to force the International Monetary Fund to postpone the allocation of the next tranche, till the moment when the leadership of Ukraine will not finish all affairs against former President Yanukovych.
"Our government has no political will to wrap up a case against Yanukovych and his associates. Worst of all, that some of these associates – are in power even today. For example, the Head of the NBU Valery Gontareva. That’s Gontareva, who helped Yanukovych and his entourage to launder money stolen from the Ukrainian people. There is a hard evidence for that", - said the activist.
According to him, the influence on the Ukrainian leadership has only the main lender of our country – IMF, as Gontareva feels herself scot-free, taking advantage of the full support from the side of the President.
Explaining the absence of clothes at the protesters, Mazurenko said that it symbolizes the poverty of the Ukrainian people, from which the authorities have removed the last shirt.
"Yanukovych robbed Ukraine, but the government does not do anything to recover stolen money to the people", - said the Head of "European Council of students in Ukraine".
According to Mikhail Mazurenko, activists are planning to hold similar actions next to the US Embassy and other countries, members of IMF.
"The West should demand much more from the leadership of Ukraine, than it requires now! Because the country's leadership makes a fool of not only the people, but also Western partners", - summed up Mazurenko.
It is to be recalled that, on the website "Glavcom.ua" were published documents, showing that the company "Investment Capital Ukraine", which was led by Gontareva before joining the National Bank, in November-December 2013 took part in the money laundering of the entourage of the ex-President Viktor Yanukovych. As well, Gontareva helped Cyprus companies, belonged to the former Head of the Central Bank Sergey Arbuzov who is known as "Yanukovych’s wallet" in buying, at the money of the unknown origin person, the currency bonds of the Ministry of Finance totaling about $ 1.3 billion. As it was established by journalists, the money was stolen from the budget of the country, derived from the Ukraine, and then returned as a private foreign investment.
