Tractor Supply Hosting National Contest for Animal Rescues With $25,000 in Prizes

Top Shelter Takes Home $10,000 Grand Prize

/EINPresswire.com/ -- BRENTWOOD, TN--(Marketwired - August 22, 2016) - The search is on for 10 deserving animal shelters in need of some TLC -- or in this case, TSC. Rural lifestyle retailer Tractor Supply Co. is kicking off their fourth annual "Rescue Your Rescue" contest, and the $10,000 grand prize has tails everywhere wagging.

As part of Tractor Supply's annual Pet Appreciation Week, held Sept. 14-18 this year, Tractor Supply is awarding a total of $25,000 in grants to 10 qualifying nonprofit animal organizations through its "Rescue Your Rescue" social media contest.

To get started, Tractor Supply is asking customers to nominate their favorite shelter by submitting a photo and brief statement of why the shelter is deserving. Nominations will be accepted via Facebook.com/TractorSupplyCo and will be open from Thursday, Aug. 25 through Wednesday, Aug. 31.

Tractor Supply will choose 10 finalists, and the public will vote from Wednesday, Sept. 7 through Sunday, Sept. 11 at Facebook.com/TractorSupplyCo to determine the final standings.

The Rescue Your Rescue prizes are as follows:

  • First place: $10,000
  • Second place: $5,000
  • Third place: $3,500
  • Fourth place: $2,000
  • Fifth place: $1,500
  • Sixth place: $1,000
  • Seventh place: $800
  • Eighth place: $650
  • Ninth place: $350
  • Tenth place: $200

"The Rescue Your Rescue contest is Tractor Supply's way of giving back to the countless organizations that work so hard to provide animals with a good home," said Seth Estep, vice president and divisional merchandise manager at Tractor Supply. "Pets and animals are our passion, so as a team, it's our mission to make sure they receive the love and care they deserve."

Last year, Imagine Pet Rescue of Savannah, Georgia won the $10,000 grand prize. Cindy McManus, the nonprofit's founder, said the contest helped to pay off some outstanding veterinary bills.

"If there's even a glimmer of hope that an animal can medically recover, we take them in, but as a result of that, it's easy to spend hundreds of thousands of dollars on vet bills," said McManus. "This competition afforded us the opportunity to alleviate some of those costs and for that we are so thankful."

Tractor Supply's Pet Appreciation Week, or PAW, is an event to celebrate pets, pet adoptions, and introduce families to the joy of owning animals. As part of the main event on Saturday, Sept. 17, many Tractor Supply stores will feature pet adoptions by community partners, demonstrations on pet nutrition, discounts on pet food and supplies, free giveaways, and valuable in-store prize drawings.

Pet Appreciation Week runs from Sept. 14-18 and all events are open to the public, including leashed, friendly pets. Find a local store and tips on pet care at TractorSupply.com.
