James Carville Joins the Mission of Paralyzed Veterans of America

/EINPresswire.com/ -- WASHINGTON, DC--(Marketwired - August 03, 2016) - Paralyzed Veterans of America (Paralyzed Veterans) is proud to announce that political consultant James Carville is publicly supporting the organization and its mission to ensure that veterans with spinal cord injury or disease (SCI/D) have access to all they need to thrive after injury, including quality health care, VA benefits, employment, and adaptive sporting opportunities.

"If there is one idea that transcends politics, it is service to our great country," said Sherman Gillums, Jr. executive director of Paralyzed Veterans of America. "We value Mr. Carville's voice, as a U.S. Marine and veteran, and support on issues such as improving healthcare access for paralyzed and severely disabled veterans. Whether one's politics lean right, left, or somewhere in between, I think we all become unified when we have to send young men and women to the front lines to defend -- and in many cases die for -- our freedom. What Paralyzed Veterans of America cares about most is ensuring our country takes care of them and their families when they return. We welcome the support of anyone who embraces that ideal."

Mr. Carville, a Marine Corps veteran, recently attended this year's National Veterans Wheelchair Games, which is annually co-presented by Paralyzed Veterans and the Department of Veterans Affairs, and had a chance to meet some of the veterans Paralyzed Veterans represents.

"Paralyzed Veterans of America is filling a tremendous need for these catastrophically injured veterans -- one that is so important, and unique among veterans service organizations," said Mr. Carville. "As a veteran myself, I understand how important it is to ensure the needs and concerns of veterans are always in the American consciousness. I may be best known for my political career, but my support of Paralyzed Veterans is a patriotic mandate. That's why I'm honored to be associated with this great organization that has been helping veterans for 70 years now, and to do whatever I can to share its mission with America."

While Mr. Carville is best known as a political consultant, he is also a best-selling author, actor, producer, talk-show host, public speaker and restaurateur. He also serves as a Professor of Practice at Tulane University in New Orleans, where he lives with his wife Mary Matalin and their two daughters.

Paralyzed Veterans has had various celebrities show their support for the organization's mission, including Ben Affleck and Richard Petty. To learn more about James Carville, visit www.pva.org/spokespersons.
