Expo 86 Throwback a Nod to Canada Place's 30th Anniversary

/EINPresswire.com/ -- VANCOUVER, BC--(Marketwired - June 27, 2016) - Port of Vancouver today announced that Grammy Award winning artist Sheena Easton will perform at the '80s themed Canada Day celebration alongside a talented lineup of musical performers, including co-headliner Aaron Pritchett, Barney Bentall, and Mo Kenney.

"Unique to this year, the celebration will have an anniversary theme to commemorate the 30th anniversary of Canada Place, which opened as the Canada Pavilion for Expo 86," said Gillian Behnke, Manager of Community Relations & Communications at Port of Vancouver. "Throughout the day, special memories of Expo 86 will be featured with memorabilia, arcade games, pogo sticks, and Red Robinson's Expo Theatre."

The daytime festival will run from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on July 1st at Canada Place, Jack Poole Plaza and on the surrounding streets. This year's free family-friendly celebration will offer live musical performances and entertainment by the world's best extreme pogo demo crew, Xpogo. Guests will have the chance to take part in a photo shoot with The Collective You and fashion influencers Mac Harmon and the PARTYSKIRTS at the Coast Capital Savings Youth Zone or enjoy a beverage at Pier Point Lounge. Festivities will continue into the evening with the Canada Day Parade beginning at 7:00 p.m. at Georgia and Broughton and the Canada Day fireworks show at 10:30 p.m. in Burrard Inlet.

Tickets are now on sale for the Fireworks Viewing Zone, offering premium views of the fireworks show, easy access to inside washrooms and a family-friendly space along the west promenade of Canada Place away from the crowds. Tickets can be purchased at www.ticketstonight.ca or in advance at Tourism Vancouver's ticket counter on July 1st.
