Gazprom and Edison address progress of Memorandum on Russian gas deliveries across Black Sea to Europe
A working meeting between Alexey Miller, Chairman of the Gazprom Management Committee, and Marc Benayoun, Executive Vice President of EDF, Chief Executive Officer of Edison, took place today at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum 2016.
The parties addressed the ongoing and further cooperation within the Memorandum on Russian gas deliveries across the Black Sea to Europe, discussing, among other things, preliminary results of the feasibility study performed for different configurations of the project.
The meeting participants also considered Russian gas supplies to Edison.
Background
Italy`s Edison SpA is part of EDF Group. Edison is mainly focused on hydrocarbon acquisition, exploration, production and marketing, as well as power generation and sales.
On February 24, 2016, Gazprom, Edison, and DEPA signed the Memorandum of Understanding on natural gas deliveries from Russia across the Black Sea and third countries to Greece and from Greece to Italy in order to set up a southern route for Russian gas supplies to Europe. While implementing the project, the parties are committed to take advantage of the work done by Edison and DEPA within the ITGI Poseidon project.
