Alexey Miller and Vladimir Semashko address cooperation between Gazprom and Belarus
A working meeting between Alexey Miller, Chairman of the Gazprom Management Committee, and Vladimir Semashko, Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Belarus, took place at the Gazprom headquarters today.
The parties addressed relevant issues related to cooperation in the gas sector. It was noted that Gazprom fully complied with its obligations for providing reliable gas supplies to Belarus. The required amounts of gas are delivered to Belarusian consumers by Gazprom Transgaz Belarus, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Gazprom. Gas supplies in 2015 amounted to 18.8 billion cubic meters.
In addition, Gazprom continues to ensure smooth transit of Russian gas. Last year, the Company transported 45.4 billion cubic meters of gas across Belarus to the CIS, Europe, and the Kaliningrad Region.
As the largest taxpayer in the Republic of Belarus, Gazprom Transgaz Belarus makes full and timely payments to the country's budget, as well as settles payments with Gazprom for gas delivered from Russia.
Background
Gazprom Transgaz Belarus, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Gazprom, ensures reliable operation of the gas transmission system (GTS) in the Republic of Belarus. The GTS comprises over 7.9 thousand kilometers of gas mains and gas branches, 13 compressor stations, 227 gas distribution stations, and 3 underground gas storage facilities: Mozyrskoye, Osipovichskoye, and Pribugskoye.
In 2014–2015, Gazprom Transgaz Belarus took part in the Early Detection of Hearing Impairment in Children national health care program. Since 2015, the company has provided assistance in implementing the Improved Medical Care for Children with Cancer and Help to Children with Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis programs.
As part of the Gazprom for Children in Belarus program, an education and sports complex at the branch of the Gomel State School of Olympic Reserve in Mozyr opened in 2016. The construction of modern sports centers in Orsha and Osipovichi will be completed in the near term.
