IGY Marinas June 2016 Global Community Service Initiative Project, "Inspire Giving Through You"

On June 11th, 2016, IGY corporate staff and volunteers from around the world will donate their time and efforts to the "Inspire Giving through You" Community Outreach Initiative at nine (9) participating locations. After a very successful first event on February 20th, 2016, the company is thrilled to expand its efforts for a second time this year.

IGY Marinas is again calling all hands on deck to encourage the supportive efforts of IGY corporate staff, marina associates, Anchor Club Sponsors, boat owners, captains and crew to take part in the second event of its new endeavor, which seeks globally to helping the lives of others.

Saturday, June 11th, 2016 -- Project details pertaining to each location's initiatives follow:

Montauk, New York: In working with the Animal Rescue Fund (ARF) of the Hamptons, The Montauk Yacht Club will be hosting an animal adoption day. IGY Staff and volunteers will assist in preparing and caring for the animals during the adoption day including; walking dogs, bathing and clean up. The ARF actively rescues cats and dogs, providing quality care and a safe haven.

Manhattan, New York: Coalition for the Homeless -- Camp Homeward Bound (CHB) is the nation's first summer sleep-away camp designed specifically for children in despairing situations. IGY volunteers and staff from North Cove Marina and Newport Yacht Club will donate time helping set up the camp. The camp site is located at Harriman State Park in upstate New York. Transportation will be provided.

New York City, New York: New York Cares Foundation is the city's largest volunteer management organization. The non-profit's mission is to take action against serious social needs. Volunteers will help the NY CARES food and pantry service by receiving online orders, packing grocery bags, and delivering requested items to those in need.

St. Petersburg, FL: Tampa Bay Watch is dedicated to the protection and restoration of Tampa Bay's estuaries. Volunteers and IGY staff will assist with the removal of beach debris and collect fishing line from 40 different recycling stations. Collected fishing line will be sent to Berkley Conservation Institute and recycled into tackle boxes and other fishing equipment.

Bocas del Toro, Panama: Escuela De Bastimentos -- school children in need of technology upgrades and modernizations in the classroom. IGY's Red Frog Marina will donate computers, technology equipment, and provide training to help educate the staff on how to use the computer programs as teaching tools.

Fort Lauderdale, Florida: The Military Heroes Support Foundation (MHSF) provides care packages to deployed troops & K-9 units and helps our heroes readapt to home life. IGY staff and volunteers will collect donations and assist with preparing care packages for the overseas troops. Donation drop-off locations include Maritime Professional Training (MPT) and Ward's Marine Electric located in Fort Lauderdale. In addition, IGY Marinas and volunteers will partner with the Marine Industry Association of South Florida for a Habitat for Humanity build day which provides affordable home ownership opportunities for working families of moderate income.

Greenville, South Carolina: A Child's Haven is committed to transforming the lives of young children who have experienced developmental delays or behavioral challenges. In working with A Child's Haven, IGY staff and volunteers will assist with adding developmental structures to the imagination playground space of the facility. In addition, we will raise charitable donations for the organization.

Charleston, South Carolina: Habitat for Humanity provides affordable home ownership opportunities for working families of moderate income. The project originates with the idea of giving a "hand-up not a hand-out." IGY staff and volunteers will assist the non-profit with development and construction of two brand new homes.

Gainesville, Florida: The PACE Center for Girls offers programs with supportive staff members that teach young women how to be independent and learn skills and trades based on each girl's strengths and challenges to adapt into a more productive future. IGY staff and volunteers will provide their assistance as the nonprofit facility is in need of basic repairs, interior upgrades and minor renovations.

After the community initiative, IGY participants will be invited back to the marinas for an appreciation party to celebrate a day of hard work. IGY Marinas expresses sincere appreciation for all contributors that will help make this event as successful as the February event earlier this year.
