Neal is a preacher's son and verifies both some good and bad things known to being a preacher's son. His inspiration in writing was guided by an autobiography on Jerry Falwell's life. Neal felt at ease with Jerry Falwell as he both gave a home to unwed mothers and alcoholics while preaching there is a hell to shun. He has tried to relate in such a way that both a professor and a child could understand God's plan of salvation.
