New Mexico Reaches Milestone, Enters "1-Gigawatt Club"

According to John Hensley, manager of industry data and analysis for the American Wind Energy Association, New Mexico surpassed 1,000 megawatts of installed capacity and joined "The Gigawatt Club," or states with more than a gigawatt installation. New Mexico's 14 wind energy projects support more than 1,000 jobs and generate enough power for 189,000 homes. By 2020, New Mexico will require that 20% of all power comes from renewable resources.
