/EINPresswire.com/ -- WASHINGTON, DC--(Marketwired - May 16, 2016) - Paralyzed Veterans of America (Paralyzed Veterans) strongly supports Senate bill S. 2806 that would provide funds for the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) to offer assisted reproductive technologies, to include In Vitro Fertilization (IVF), to veterans with a catastrophic reproductive injury. Paralyzed Veterans today released the following statement from Acting Executive Director Sherman Gillums, Jr. in support of the passage of this legislation:

"The provision of reproductive assistance, including IVF, for veterans who are injured during military service is long overdue. Paralyzed Veterans has championed this legislation and is urging the Senate to pass this bill that includes funding for the VA to offer reproductive services to qualified veterans who want to bear a child.

"Congress has a moral obligation to every veteran who had survived a bullet or blast and returned with catastrophic loss or injuries. Passage of this legislation would ensure that veterans with life-changing injuries that require fertility assistance are able to have the lives they envisioned for themselves; the lives they deserve."
