Ruth Barrett studied sociology at Georgia State University and briefly attended Young Harris College.

After an extremely outstanding career as a federal government employee, Ms. Barrett retired. Leaving no moss to gather beneath her feet, she soon began writing her first novel.

Beginning her career with the government in 1961, she advanced from clerical work to investigative work, on to supervisory work and writing training manuals.

Motivated by her love of reading and passion for writing, Ms. Ruth Barrett authored and published her first book, a contemporary romantic novel titled "New Beginnings," which tells the story of Susan Bennett, a young woman who marries her high school sweetheart and soon discovers that he is not the man of her dreams but rather a man with many secrets. "New Beginnings" is a story of love, discovery, disappointment, heartbreak and resilience.

After writing and self-publishing her first successful novel, Ms. Barrett put pen to paper once again and has authored her second novel, "High Jinks in High Places" which was just recently published. "High Jinks in High Places" tells the story of Jordan Anderson, a young female private investigator who takes a case involving Kingman Corporation, an Arlington, VA company working on an important government contract. She discovers that a U.S. Navy cargo shipment bound for a warehouse in Seattle has ended up in Afghanistan. Combining mystery, intrigue, murder, terrorism and romance with her gripping style of writing, this second novel is bound to be a great success.

Ms. Ruth Barrett is a member of the National Association of Professional Women, where she has been recognized as a VIP Woman of the Year and is also on the board of directors for her local community homeowners' association.

In her spare time, Ms. Barrett enjoys working out, gardening, reading, and of course writing.
