HPV: Canada Approves Green Tea Ointment against Genital Warts; The CBCD Reviews a Report
Sinecatechins 10% ointment is a new botanically based patient-administered therapy for external genital warts. (1)
“Infected with the human papillomavirus (HPV)? The Center for the Biology of Chronic Disease (CBCD), recommends taking Gene-Eden-VIR or Novirin.” - Greg Bennett, CBCD
According to a report, Canadian authorities have approved a new topical treatment against genital warts. The new treatment is an ointment based on a green tea extract. The name of the ointment is “Veregen®.” (1) The report goes on to note that the new treatment “is comprised of >85% catechins, which are flavonoids responsible for the antioxidant effects of green tea. Sinecatechins 10% ointment contains eight different catechins, of which >55% is epigallocatechin-3-gallate (EGCG), the most abundant and potent catechins.” (1)
Genital warts are considered to be benign lesions, or growths. Studies show that green tea extracts “have antitumor and antiproliferative effects in vitro (in the lab).” (2) Additionally, many new treatments against HPV, which cause genital warts, include green tea extracts. (3)

The CBCD recommends that HPV infected individuals take Gene-Eden-VIR or Novirin. These natural antiviral products have a patented formula, which includes Camellia Sinesis Extract (green tea extract). Additionally, this formula was found to reduce HPV symptoms in two separate post-marketing clinical studies that followed FDA guidelines.
Although Gene-Eden-VIR and Novirin contain green tea extract, these products are not topical treatments. Instead, they are natural, antiviral supplements.
The formula of Gene-Eden-VIR and Novirin was tested by Hanan Polansky and Edan Itzkovitz from the CBCD. The studies showed that the Gene-Eden-VIR and Novirin formula is effective against the HPV and other viruses. The clinical studies were published in the peer reviewed, medical journal Pharmacology & Pharmacy. The first study was published in a special edition on Advances in Antiviral Drugs.
Study authors wrote that, “individuals infected with the HPV…reported a safe decrease in their symptoms following treatment with (the formula of Gene-Eden-VIR and Novirin).” (4) The study authors also wrote that “we observed a statistically significant decrease in the severity, duration, and frequency of symptoms.” (4)
Novirin can be ordered online on the Novirin website here: http://www.novirin.com.
Novirin is a natural antiviral dietary supplement. Its formula contains five natural ingredients: Selenium, Camellia Sinesis Extract, Quercetin, Cinnamomum Extract, and Licorice Extract. The first ingredient is a trace element, and the other four are plant extracts. Each ingredient and its dose were chosen through a scientific approach. Scientists at polyDNA, the company that invented and patented the formula, scanned thousands of scientific and medical papers published in various medical and scientific journals, and identified the safest and most effective natural ingredients against latent viruses.
To date, Novirin is the only natural antiviral product on the market with published clinical studies that support its claims.
Green tea extract has many health benefits. “The medicinal properties of tea leaves have been known for thousands of years. Tea leaves, produced from the plant Camellia sinensis, contain two unique bioactive compounds - flavonoids and methylxanthines. Methylxanthines, including caffeine, theobromine, and theophylline, are a group of alkaloids that are present in small quantities. Flavonols, which are a subtype of flavonoids, and also known as catechins, are the polyphenolic compounds that constitute 25 to 35 percent of green tea and are responsible for most of its beneficial effects … catechins, namely EGCg, have a wide variety of beneficial effects, including assisting in the prevention of chronic diseases ranging from cancer to cardiovascular diseases.” (3)
“Veregen is a topical ointment, and therefore is effective locally against the virus in the warts themselves. In contrast, Gene-Eden-VIR and Novirin are taken orally, and therefore target the latent virus everywhere in the body.” – Greg Bennett, CBCD
What other treatments are available against the HPV?
“There are no drugs approved against the HPV. Current treatments include procedures, such as cryotherapy, conization, and the Loop Electrosurgical Excision Procedure (LEEP). These procedures use liquid nitrogen, a surgical knife (scalpel), a carbon dioxide (CO2) laser, or electrical current to remove the abnormal growths caused by the HPV. These growths include cells that harbor the active virus. The procedures do not target cells with the latent virus. Since they do not remove the latent virus, these procedures only produce a temporary remission.” (4)
