Xcel Energy Proposes Green-Only Electricity for Minnesota Customers
December 2015 - In response to customer demand for electricity from renewable energy, Xcel Energy will offer its Minnesota customers the option to sign long-term contracts to purchase electricity generated by wind and solar farms under a proposed program called Renewable Connect. Like Xcel's existing Windsource program, Renewable Connect's electricity will be priced at a premium. Enrolled customers will have more certainty about long-term energy costs through the long-term contracts. The program still needs the regulatory approval from the Minnesota Public Utilities Commission.
