March 2015 - Walmart has signed a 12-year power purchase agreement (PPA) with French renewables producer Akuo Energy. Walmart will purchase 80 percent of the expected output from the 50-megawatt (MW) Rocksprings Wind Farm near Del Rio, Texas for a period of 12 years. The Rocksprings facility is anticipated to be commissioned by the third quarter of 2016. This deal will help Walmart to power over 350 of its stores in Texas. Walmart has set a goal to produce or procure 7 million MW hours of renewable energy by 2020, aiming to offset 100% of the company's electricity consumption globally.
