After honing her craft as an actress on the stage, Manuela Osmont finds her home on film with several upcoming projects set for release.

LOS ANGELES, CA, USA, March 3, 2015 /EINPresswire.com/ -- After spending her youth carefully cultivating her craft on theatrical stages across the world, French-born actress Manuela Osmont has now become a sought after talent for film as well.

The ethnic ambiguity of her beauty combined with the diverse nature of her craft has made Manuela Osmont a go-to talent for a variety of roles. She recently starred in Abhijit Gajwani's film "Gnossienne," Lavi Hu's "Mariana Can," and Mario Mazzarella's "Vice-Versa."

Recently chosen as an Official Selection of the 2015 Cannes Short Film Corner, "Gnossienne" follows Osmont in the emotionally challenging role of Sarah Archer. Through her honest portrayal of Sarah, Osmont takes audiences into the traumatizing world of a mother who has lost her unborn child.

About playing Sarah, Osmont said, "I enjoyed being able to experiment with her vulnerable side. I think people don’t allow themselves to be really in touch with their vulnerable and soft side and it’s a shame because to me, that’s the most interesting part of a person."

Proving her ability to get under the skin of the most challenging characters and bring them to life in a way that is raw and touching, Osmont gives a knockout performance in the film.

Abhijit Gajwani, the director of the film, recalled, "I enjoyed collaborating with Manuela tremendously. She is always open to suggestion, never defensive and always a delight. She knows cinema and her love and passion for it shows through everything she does. She brought her own charisma into the character and portrayed her as someone who I had in my mind brilliantly."

In the film "Mariana Can," Osmont plays the starring role of the prostitute and creative muse Barbra Sharp. After realizing his creativity is becoming increasingly sterile due to his nagging wife and their humdrum life, a writer named Josh packs up his belongings and sets out on a journey to find the inspiration he's been lacking.

Along the way he encounters Barbra, a scantily clad prostitute who begs him for a ride after being dumped in the middle of nowhere by her pimp. The two form a deep connection and, in the end, Barbra becomes the inspiration for the writer's next novel.

"The great thing about this film is that it was written in a way where one doesn’t really know if what Josh experienced was real or a dream," explained Osmont. "I loved working on Barbra because she is so unapologetic and a 'what you see is what you get' type of gal. It takes a lot of strength to live such a lifestyle and finding that was definitely a great challenge."

As an actress, Manuela Osmont thrives in dramatic roles, something she has proven with her performances in the films "Gnossienne" and "Mariana Can"; but what separates her from other actors is her unquenchable thirst for the kind of challenges that allow her to take her craft to new heights.

Making her film debut in the comedy genre, Osmont took on the starring role of Averi Mathison last year in Italian director Mario Mazzarella's "Vice-Versa," a twisted and hilarious tale of love, lust and lies.

After Averi returns home from a business trip earlier than expected, she discovers her husband in the midst of a drug binge with his mistress. Contrary to the reaction one might expect from such an unsettling discovery, Averi finds herself at a crossroads of decision, as her husband's mistress is in fact, the same woman she's being seeing on the side. Will she pack up and leave, or will these three unconventional characters form a modern love triangle? The only way to find out is to watch the film upon its release later this year.

"I really had to get out of my comfort zone, especially in silly situations where I was afraid I wasn’t going to be taken seriously, but then you loosen up and you keep going," Osmont explained about the challenges of assimilating into the comedy genre. "Even though I had to do a lot of character work for the role, I had to do even more work on myself to make it to a place where I could do my job while still having fun, which is crucial for a comedy."

Osmont further proves her diversity in the film "Close Range," which is scheduled for release later this year. Directed by Isaac Florentine who is known for his work as the director of the films "Ninja," "Bridge of Dragons," "High Voltage," "Desert Kickboxer" and others, Osmont plays the role of Vanessa, a fierce, fighter chick caught in a dangerous world of ruthless drug cartels. The film also stars Scott Adkins from the films "Zero Dark Thirty," "Legendary," "The Expendables 2," "El Gringo" and "The Bourne Ultimatum," and Nick Chinlund from the films "Training Day," "The Chronicles of Riddick," "Con Air" and "Ultraviolet."

As a well-known theater actress Manuela Osmont has starred in an impressive list of productions across multiple continents, including: "Waiting for Lefty" directed by Oscar Award winner Milton Justice where she played the role of Fayette, "The Graduate" directed by Christopher Thornton ("Sympathy for Delicious," "Pretty Persuasion," "My Name is Earl") where she starred as Elaine Robinson, and "Macbeth" as Lady Macbeth, which opened at the Theatre du Versant in France.

Osmont is also slated to star in the upcoming films "Across the Desert," which follows a young woman who journeys back to her brother's favorite places in order to disperse his ashes, “Smoking Gun,” which centers on a CIA agent who uncovers a dark secret, and "Galleon," which will take audiences on a wild ride to find the world’s largest treasure.
