WELLINGTON, NEW ZEALAND, February 9, 2015 /EINPresswire.com/ -- Seasoned Allied Spy to Address National Press Club of New Zealand on Surveillance

Major General Peter Williams will address the National Press Club of New Zealand on the subject of field operations behind the Soviet lines during the Cold War.

The former Coldstream Guards officer was a durable field officer for the allies conducting intelligence operations within the Soviet sphere during this era. Amazingly, he went on to start up and lead NATO’s Military Liaison Mission to the Russian Federation.

As an army officer General Williams served in the Middle East, Brunei, Northern Ireland, Germany and the Balkans. A linguist, he was interpreter at Spandau prison for Nazi deputy leader Rudolf Hess.
.
According to the National Press Club, the briefing by General Williams, will confer upon its members a practitioner’s viewpoint to replace continuing media speculation and assumption on the matter.

Covert surveillance of its citizens by the New Zealand government became the unexpected and overwhelming media-generated issue of the country’s general election at the end of last year. General Williams will travel to New Zealand to deliver his briefing on March 5.
