7.5 MW Airport Solar Farm Completed in Indianapolis
January 2015 - With the second phase expansion complete, Indianapolis International Airport announced that the 7.5 megawatt (MW) solar farm is now fully operational. The second phase adds 32,100 panels to an 86-acre farm, making the airport home to more than 76,000 photovoltaic panels. The system is expected to generate more than 15.2 million kilowatt-hours of electricity annually. Indianapolis Power & Light Company will purchase and distribute the solar power to its customers in Indiana.
