DALLAS, Tex. — Tate Publishing announces signing of author Melvin Morgan and his Christian poetry book Uplifting Poems & Prose for Christians.

“In writing these spiritual poems, prose and praises, I've been helped as a Christian and grown closer to the Lord.”

DALLAS, TX, USA, October 11, 2014 /EINPresswire.com/ -- “Often after I meditate on God's infallible Word, I write down to the Lord what is in my heart and mind,” says Morgan. “In writing these spiritual poems, prose and praises, I've been helped as a Christian and grown closer to the Lord.”

“I began by petitioning God to help me in writing only one poem for the
Mary Morgan Missionary Society's - Everybody's Birthday Party,” shares Morgan about the origins of the book. “This group of missionaries have this function each year to honor outstanding missionary work at the Ebenezer AME church in Tyler. The missionary team named their society after my beloved grandmother - Mary Morgan. That poem is entitled, Delighted to Work for The Lord, was [written] in March 2014. I began adding a new poem, prose or praise to that intending to have at least 10 items to use for our Men's Fellowship at church. Well, 10 poems became 30 from March to July 2014.”

"Melvin joins Tate Publishing with a wonderful book full of God loving poems and prose. This book of poetry is sure to touch the heart of Christians everywhere, and as the title states, will uplift the spirits of those who are down. We are excited to welcome Melvin to the Tate family!" said Shannon Lloyd, the acquisitions editor for the book.

Published by Tate Publishing and Enterprises, the book will be available upon its release through bookstores nationwide, from the publisher at www.tatepublishing.com/bookstore, or by visiting barnesandnoble.com or amazon.com.

Melvin Morgan was raised up in church, Sunday school & bible study. He reflects on this upbringing, stating “as a child, going to church was not an option, it was a demand. As many do, once I was out on my own, I chose not to go to church all the time. [When] my mother Trula passed away… at the funeral service I felt horrible to see that my brother Johnny and sisters Sheila & Linda all had their pastors there to comfort & honor them - I had no one. I vowed I would make my mom proud of me by going back to church. I joined church where my wife and I had visited a few times and started my journey back.”

Morgan has been blessed to work with the Feed My Sheep ministry, providing hot lunch bi-monthly to the homeless, and as a Deacon, Sunday school teacher, and ministry leader at the Beth-Eden Baptist Church in Dallas, Tex. He also currently serves as a director with the Beth Eden Red Bird Community Development Corporation, which provides help to the community through their free annual Health and Wellness Fair, support to our neighbor elementary school and assisting the needy through monthly donations of produce and various other sundry items.

Morgan is a retiree of AT&T after 31 years of outstanding service; having worked as a local and long distance operator, mail attendant and service representative. In his spare time he enjoys reading scripture daily, spending quality time with his wonderful wife Amy, enjoying their families, playing games on his tablet, watching movies, listening to gospel and jazz music, and fishing.
