The End To A 20-Year Wait: Wayne Kramer’s Radical Solo Album “The Hard Stuff” on Special Edition Red Vinyl & Digital

The Hard Stuff showcases the MC5 Founder’s Famous Fiery Chops Amidst an All-Star Cast Who Pay A Debt to Kramer’s Legacy on Wax

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA, USA, September 19, 2014 /EINPresswire.com/ -- --- Scheduled for release on Tuesday, September 16th, Wayne Kramer’s career-defining record The Hard Stuff marks the 20th Anniversary of his return to full-time writing, recording, touring and promotion as one of the world’s great guitar innovators. An honest-to-goodness bona fide re-issue of The Hard Stuff will no doubt inspire new fans to discover an overlooked nugget of real hard-rocking guitar craftsmanship.

Kramer’s own Industrial Amusement re-release marks the first time in two decades that this recording has been available on the audiophile preferred format, the vinyl record. The Hard Stuff is Industrial Amusement’s second release in conjunction with the INgrooves Music Group after Lexington, performed by Wayne Kramer and the Lexington Arts Ensemble, which debuted at #6 on the Soundscan jazz chart in April of this year.

Kramer’s rich and sordid life history informed the album: After some less than advantageous post-MC5 extra-curricular activities including a four-year sentence in federal prison, Wayne Kramer co-wrote the acclaimed R&B musical The Last Words of Dutch Schultz with Mick Farren. He then joined Don Was’ revolutionary acid funk band Was (Not Was) as its original guitarist. Wayne helped define the band’s sound through its dance hit, “Wheel Me Out.” Afterwards, moving to New York City, Wayne teamed up with infamous Johnny Thunders for a short-lived, headline-grabbing, punk rock group Gang War. Then, he met Bad Religion founder Brett Gurewitz and found a home for his compositions carried through Stratocaster and Fender amplifier at Epitaph Records. The musical partnership lasted four whirlwind years (a solo album every year) and their friendship remains.

The Hard Stuff was borne out of the frustrations of living in Nashville en route to moving to Los Angeles, with many songs written via fax and telephone with Wayne’s dear and recently-departed friend, Mick Farren. Featuring members of Bad Religion, Pennywise, Melvins and Suicidal Tendencies, The Hard Stuff starts off with a bang. A spot-on musical chronicle of social breakdown amidst killer riffs, deafening guitars and sexy punk rock and roll, The Hard Stuff serves as an exciting introduction for those individuals less familiar with Wayne Kramer’s sonic assaults and illustrious solo style.
