The Town of Ithaca Purchases 4.5 Million kWh of RECs
September 2014 - The Town of Ithaca, New York, partnered with Renewable Choice Energy to purchase 4,533,239 kilowatt hours of renewable energy for the year 2014. The town plans to offset all of the electricity use from its municipal operations using the Renewable Energy Certificates (RECS) to decrease its greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by 2,300 metric tons—the equivalent of avoiding consumption of 258,000 gallons of gasoline.
