A working meeting between Alexey Miller, Chairman of the Gazprom Management Committee and Danilo Durakovic, Chief Executive Officer of Comita took place today as part of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum 2014.

The meeting participants addressed the issues of cooperation within the South Stream project. In particular, they paid attention to the possibility of setting up a joint venture aimed at comprehensively developing the NGV sector in the project countries.

In addition, the parties discussed the possibility for Comita to render engineering communications and automation services to the Power of Siberia project.

Background

Slovenian Comita develops technologies in the areas of automation, communications and power generation.

In 2012 Gazprom Telecom and Comita set up the South Stream Telecom joint venture (with Gazprom Telecom holding a 50 per cent stake plus one share, Comita – 50 per cent minus one share). The main objective of the joint venture is operation and provision of integrated telecommunications services at main communication lines along the South Stream gas pipeline.

The Power of Siberia is a gas transmission system (GTS) providing for the 'blue fuel' supplies from the Yakutia and Irkutsk gas production centers to the Russian Far East and to China.
