Vice President Biden spoke today with Slovakian Prime Minister Robert Fico. The Vice President and Prime Minister discussed the situation in eastern Ukraine. The Vice President underscored the United States support for a diplomatic resolution to the crisis in Ukraine, contingent on Russias disavowal and cessation of destabilizing actions within Ukraine. The two leaders agreed that if Russia further escalated the situation in Ukraine, it would face mounting consequences for its actions. The Vice President thanked the Prime Minister for Slovakias commitment to bolstering energy security within Europe, including by supporting the reverse flow of natural gas to Ukraine.
