We join the International Press Institute, The Press Association of Jamaica, and others in their support of the action the Government of Jamaica has taken to decriminalize libel. This is an important achievement that strengthens press freedoms and freedom of expression in Jamaica. The United States Government commends this accomplishment, which will allow the press to address issues that advance Jamaica’s thriving democracy.
