Energy and Climate Change Minister Greg Barker will launch Solar Energy UK at the NEC Birmingham on Tuesday 8 October 2013.

LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM, October 3, 2013 /EINPresswire.com/ -- Now in its fourth year, free-to-attend Solar Energy UK (previously named Solar Power UK) exhibition will be taking place on 8 – 10 October 2013 at the NEC Birmingham. The exhibition aims to drive the UK’s solar sector forward.

This year’s event has seen Solar Power UK re-branded to Solar Energy UK to recognise the diversity of companies that were present at the 2012 exhibition committed to the generation, storage, use and transmission of solar energy in the UK.
Solar Energy UK features

This year, the Practical PV Feature Area sponsored by Baywa r.e. and Large Scale Feature Area sponsored by Belectric will be returning to the 2013 event providing advice on regulations and best practice in both fields.

In the Solar Business Seminar Hall, delegates can hear presentations by the Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC), Investec, Lightsource Renewable Energy, Energy Networks Association, Micropower Council, AECOM, Repowering, National Farmers’ Union and Osborne Clark.

Presentations will cover PV, solar thermal, storage and energy solutions and the wider UK (and global) solar industry, providing updates on EPC requirements, the revival of large-scale, policy, technology and market trends during these half-day sessions.

As a new addition to the show floor, the open plan Technology Theatre is hosting a solar thermal forum in collaboration with UK’s Solar Trade Association (STA) and the European Solar Thermal Industry Federation (ESTIF) focusing on the Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI) Scheme. Other sessions will address the price-yield optimisation of the PV system, market analysis and the ramifications of the anti-dumping dispute, Large-Scale site surveys, design, Energy storage and distribution, integrating solar with other renewable technologies as well as selling solar.

The organisers, Solar Media, will also be launching the first edition of the Solar Power Portal Awards Gala Dinner sponsored by Natural Sparx (powered by Rexel Energy Solutions) on Tuesday 8 October at the Hilton NEC.

Hosted by Robert Llewellyn, best known for his portrayal of Kryten in Red Dwarf on BBC2, winning entrants from ten categories will be awarded for exemplary projects in the domestic, commercial, large-scale and public sectors. A special award will be presented to one individual for their outstanding service and contribution to the solar industry.
