Two new community solar arrays have begun operation in Breckenridge, Colorado. Each of the 500 kW facilities allows local Xcel Energy customers to receive the benefits of solar without installing an array on their homes or businesses. Customers can purchase 235-watt panels in the arrays for $870 each, with a minimum of five panels, and will receive a 10-cent per watt rebate on their electricity bill for all electricity generated. The projects were developed by Clean Energy Collective (CEC), and are the second and third of eleven community solar gardens CEC is developing under the Xcel Solar Rewards Program. The combined capacity of the eleven gardens will be nearly 5 megawatts (MW).
