Justice Ginsburg to deliver remarks at dedication of new ABA offices in D.C.

WASHINGTON, D.C., June 21, 2013 — Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg will speak at the June 26 dedication of the American Bar Association’s new Washington offices.

The brief dedication ceremony begins at 2 p.m. on the fifth floor of the ABA’s new offices in Washington Square at 1050 Connecticut Ave. NW. The ABA’s 250 D.C.-based staffers moved to the new location in mid-May. At Washington Square, the ABA occupies approximately 61,000 square feet, including the entire fourth floor and meeting rooms on the fifth floor.

The ABA’s Washington staff focuses primarily on governmental relations, communications and media relations, the worldwide ABA Rule of Law Initiative, and numerous ABA entities, including the Criminal Justice, Taxation, Children and the Law, and International Law sections.

The ABA, founded in 1878 in Saratoga Springs, N.Y., has an additional 700 employees at its headquarters in Chicago. The association has maintained a presence in D.C. since 1940. Its Washington staff formerly occupied a historic 11-story building at 740 15th St. NW, which it purchased in 1994 and sold in 2011, before leasing back office space for the interim period.
