Bachmann Votes to Hold Attorney General Holder in Contempt of Congress

Congresswoman Michele Bachmann (MN-06) released the following statement after joining the House of Representatives in voting to hold Attorney General Eric Holder in criminal and civil contempt of Congress:

“I voted to hold Attorney General Eric Holder in contempt of Congress. Today’s criminal and civil contempt votes are above political games. An American is dead because Department of Justice weapons made their way into the wrong hands. While I had hoped the Attorney General would have produced the subpoenaed documents, I remain hopeful that these votes are a step forward as Congress continues its investigations into Fast and Furious.

“This is a historic day in many ways, but it is important to remember that no vote is going to bring proper relief to the family of border patrol agent Brian Terry. Nor will it do away with the unfortunate violence along the U.S. and Mexico border. But through these votes, we are saying that Congress will not stand idly by and allow this administration to get away with such unprecedented irresponsibility.”

The criminal contempt resolution passed the House of Representatives 255-67. The civil contempt resolution passed the House of Representatives 258-95.
