/EINPresswire.com/ Media Business magazine announces 2012 "10 Great Media Web Sites" list; mobile makes debut in two categories in list recognizing outstanding websites from media brands including The American Lawyer, Forbes, Tech Decisions Media, and Travel Weekly

Media Business magazine (btobonline.com/mediabusiness), the trade authority for b-to-b media professionals, announced today its 2012 "10 Great Business Media Websites." The major shift in media consumption to mobile devices, including smart phones and tablets, was reflected for the first time in this year's list with the inclusion of two mobile applications among the winners: Architectural Record's CEU App and Financial Times' Web App.

Here is the full list of winners by category:

Design News (UBM) - Tech
Travel Weekly (Northstar Travel Media) - Nontech
Forbes (Forbes Media) - General Business
The American Lawyer (ALM) - Paid Subscription
Tech Decisions Media (EH Publishing) - Launch
InStore (SmartWork Media) - Relaunch
HousingZone (SGC Horizon) - Portal
Modern Salon (Vance Publishing) - Video/Multimedia
Architectural Record (McGraw-Hill Construction) - Mobile/B-to-B
Financial Times (Financial Times) - Mobile/General Business

"This year we reviewed more than 50 sites and mobile applications, and in many categories it was difficult to select a winner," said John Obrecht, editor of BtoB and Media Business. "It was also noteworthy that more than half of the nominees had been redesigned since the start of last year."

The "10 Great Business Media Websites" list, first introduced in 2007, has quickly become an industry barometer of best practices in Web production and marketing that drive traffic and engagement with professional audiences. Methodology
B-to-b media companies were invited to submit their sites through notifications in the magazine, e-newsletters and direct email requests.

The sites were chosen based on a rigorous selection process conducted by the editors, which included vetting the publishers' descriptions of the sites, gathering key metrics, and visits to the sites to review content quality, graphics and video capabilities, the amount of user-generated content, and basic functionality, such as navigation and search. The final 10 Great Media Websites are those deemed to be the best among all the entrants in each category, which include technology site, trade site (non-tech), general business site, paid subscription site, launch, relaunch, portal, video/multimedia, mobile-b-to-b media and mobile-general business.
