The conference will focus on how innovative farmers and entrepreneurs are leveraging sustainable agriculture practices, technologies and business models to increase food security, strengthen local food systems and achieve economic viability.
The conference will feature keynote addresses, panels and presentations on topics ranging from urban agriculture, managing and starting a sustainable farm enterprise, and the science of sustainable agriculture to aquaponics, creating chef-direct relationships, vertical farming and more. There will also be an agripreneur showcase in which a select group of sustainable agriculture entrepreneurs will have the opportunity to pitch their ideas to a group of investors.
A sampling of the companies set to participate in the conference include Archi's Acres, a small scale hydro-organic farm run by decorated marine sergeant Colin Archipley and his wife Karen, Home Town Farms, a vertical urban farming company, and EVO Farm, an urban farming organization that utilizes aquaponics to grow produce that exceeds organic standards within walking distance of any neighborhood.
