Donna MJ Kinsey of Kinsey Quilts to be Featured on CUTV News Radio
WEATHERFORD, TEXAS, UNITED STATES, January 11, 2018 /EINPresswire.com/ -- Many of us did not grow up sewing. When the time comes to do something special, we don't know how to sew, but we don't want to just go to the store and buy a quilt.
Donna MJ Kinsey is a professional quilter and the founder of Kinsey Quilts. Kinsey Quilts are “pieced with passion and quilted with care.” Donna can restore your old quilts, create a new quilt or teach you how to quilt yourself.
“I do everything from finishing your great grandma's quilt that you found in the barn to creating memory quilts fashioned from your treasured t-shirts,” says Donna. “It’s all hand touch and personal. I can design a quilt to complement your decor. I look for ways to make the quilt reflect the charm and individuality of each client.”
Donna’s great-great grandmother was a professional dress maker.
“Great-grandma put a needle in my hand when I was four and started teaching me how to do hand embroidery,” recalls Donna. “She passed away when I was quite small, but the passion that she instilled in me has carried through a lifetime. I received my first sewing machine when I was seven and I’ve been sewing my whole life.”
Kinsey Quilts offers professional grade sewing machines for students to use, and all the equipment needed. Simply visit her studio and take a class; discover the fabrics, the tools, the threads. Make a small project - a baby quilt or tote bag and find out if this is going to be a passion for you before you invest in your own equipment. Donna is right there to guide you so you don’t need to worry about making mistakes.
“I want people to discover and foster their creativity,” says Donna. “I want my students to feel the thrill of making something unique, creating that heirloom, with their own hands, mind, energy, and heart. Most of all, I want them to feel the joyful experience of getting it right.”
Donna works in several meditative artforms. Handwork of any kind is relaxing and she finds sewing and quilting to be peaceful. In addition, Donna offers classes in paper arts, scrapbooking, cardmaking, and Zentangle. Donna is a Certified Zentangle Teacher. Zentangle is meditative process that helps people learn to draw while teaching them how to relax the mind and reduce stress.
“If you’re going to be a quilter, then you have to learn how to draw because when you go to put the layers together, you have to hand guide the machine and that design comes out of your head,” says Donna.
“I’m most proud that when I deliver their finished quilt, so much love comes through the work that it moves the client to tears. It’s really special.”
