STATEN ISLAND, NY, UNITED STATES, September 27, 2017 /EINPresswire.com/ -- The Carl V. Bini Memorial Fund1, Staten Island-based non profit, will host a family fun day on Sunday, October 1st from noon-6pm at Mount Loretto2 to raise funds to help Anthony Capece, a Staten Island child battling the life threatening disease MELAS. 100% of net proceeds raised will be given to the family to offset medical and living expenses. — Masimmo DiDonna
MELAS, an abbreviation for Mitochondrial Encephalopathy, Lactic Acidosis, and Stroke-Like Episodes, is a rare genetic disorder which results in stroke and uncontrollable seizures. Five-year-old New Dorp resident Anthony Capece has been afflicted with this disease since birth.
“Our mission is to help the community in a time of need,” said Massimo DiDonna, President and Chairman of The Carl V. Bini Memorial Fund. “The Capece family is facing a tremendously difficult situation and we’re counting on the support of fellow Staten Islanders to come out Sunday and show their support.”
The event will include rides and food, as well as live music. Participating vendors Montalbano’s of Rosebank, Giovanni’s Trattoria and Party Jam will also be donating 100% of net proceeds raised from the sale of food, drinks and amusements to the Capece Family.
