The Bread Factory named South East Growth Business of The Year at food industry awards
23 September 2016
For the second year running London-based bakery The Bread Factory was named Regional Growth Business of the year for the South East region at last night's industry-leading Food and Drink Federation Awards. The ceremony, held at London's The Brewery and hosted by television personality Hardeep Singh Kohli, celebrated businesses and industry professionals from across the food and drink supply chain. The category was sponsored by Grant Thornton UK LLP.
In choosing the winner the judges looked for a company that could demonstrate growth through increased sales, capacity and resource expansion or the development of new and innovative product lines. The Bread Factory is a wholesale artisan bakery, based in Hendon, northwest London, and is dedicated to creating exceptional bread, pastries and cakes. The company sells products to a diverse range of businesses from Michelin-starred restaurants, five-star hotels and royal households to restaurants, pubs and independent cafes.
The London Bread Factory was the 2015 Regional Growth Business champion and has continued its phenomenal growth pattern over the last year, with turnover up considerably when compared with 2015.
Ian Wright, Director General, FDF, said: “The FDF Awards truly are a badge of excellence and The Bread Factory's success in the Growth Business category demonstrates the huge potential of food and drink businesses across the UK. London is the home of more food and drink producers than anywhere else in the country, making The Bread Factory's success even more remarkable.
“The company has brought together traditional craft baking methods with modern technology enabling it to produce and deliver products at scale, while never compromising on artisan quality. The Bakery Factory has achieved excellent growth rates over the last year, building upon the solid performance of the business over prior years.”
Trefor Griffith, Head of Food and Beverage at category sponsors Grant Thornton UK LLP commented: “Grant Thornton is delighted to once again be supporting the Growth Business category for this year's Food and Drink Federation Awards. We're committed to building a vibrant economy by helping dynamic businesses like The Bread Factory unlock their potential for growth. We work with leading food and drink firms across the UK, so we're delighted to be able celebrate the contribution businesses like The Bread Factory make to their region, the manufacturing sector and the UK as a whole.”
