HOT SPRINGS, ARIZ., UNITED STATES, September 3, 2016 /EINPresswire.com/ -- HOT SPRINGS, Ariz. – Author Jodie Keeling crafts a bizarre but magically wonderful and engaging story in her fantasy novel, “You Can’t Make Me Go to School!2”— Andrea Weig, Acquisitions Editor, Tate Publishing
A story with an unexpected turn of events, “You Can’t Make Me Go to School!” is about a typical 13-year-old girl with typical teenage problems. For her, growing up causes life as she knows it to steadily unravel. After an unusually bad day, she finds a mirror in the woods that gives her a glimpse of the life of a former best friend and an opportunity to turn both worlds upside down, or mend the broken friendship.
“The inspiration for the book comes from being an educator, a parent, and working with teenagers for many years. The storyline came to me while on a particularly turbulent airplane flight which I tried to ignore by writing. Growing up, my boys always loved ‘The Junie B. Jones’ series and ‘The Magic Treehouse.’ After writing my first book, ‘You Can't Make Me Go To School!,’ I wanted to branch out and create an older character with the honesty of Junie B. Jones and the struggles of a young teenager which could possibly branch into a series,” shares Keeling, when asked about the inspiration behind her imaginative book.
“Keeling touches on issues pertaining to the youth which readers will respond with a desire to hear more from the main character, ‘You Can’t Make Me Go to School’ will undoubtedly cause a raging spark among young readers, ” states Andrea Weig, Acquisition Editor for Tate Publishing.
Published by Tate Publishing and Enterprises, the book is available through bookstores nationwide, from the publisher at www.tatepublishing.com/bookstore, or by visiting barnesandnoble.com or amazon.com.
A mother of two teenage boys and a wife to John, Keeling loves to work-out, paint, draw and read and is an avid outdoorsman and entrepreneur. Her family owns Subway Sandwich stores. She has experienced tutoring students and is currently the head of a Transition or Job Program which helps special education students find gainful employment during and after graduation.
As a special education teacher, Keeling has always felt her students’ struggles in life. Her sons are active in school as well and have many friends who offer her their opinions on storylines and keep her up-to-date with problems that teens face today.
As a writer, what started out as a writing sample for an English class and a book for young children has led her to a desire to branch out and offer a second book with more substance for an older group of students.
