Gazprom Neft unveils development of “GeoMate” proprietary geological information system
7 November 2014Gazprom Neft has completed testing ofits proprietary “GeoMate” ITsystem, allowing the collation and analysis ofgeological information across all producing assets owned bythe company. Gazpromneft-Noyabrskneftegaz, Gazpromneft-Murvalenko, Gazpromneft-Khantos, Gazpromneft-Vostok, and Gazpromneft-Orenburg are all now connected tothe system, onasingle, integrated platform. The software and engineering behind the new system were developed byexperts atthe Gazpromneft Joint Scientific and Research Centre, together with the company’s ITspecialists.
Akey feature ofthe software supporting the GeoMate programme isits facility allowing the application ofinnovative approaches tothe analysis ofgeological and field data. Mathematical tools built intothe information platform allow the impact ofmore than 200 geological features tobeevaluated. The GeoMate system brings together approximately 80percent ofall data available from the analysis ofgeological and geophysical information— seismic data, maps, the results ofwell surveys, well-core data, and soon. Access toasingle, fully comprehensiveIT environment allows Gazprom Neft employees direct and immediate access toall data, allowing the construction offield models and the identification and detailing ofpromising zones and formations. Detailed and thoroughgoing analysis helps geologists, geophysicists, petro-physicists and other specialists todevelop integrated solutions onfield prospecting and development, drawing onawide range ofdata. The development ofaproprietary software solution has also obviated any reliance onimported products.
Work onthe GeoMate system was initiated in2013as part ofaproject for the “Express evaluation ofgeological formations and verification ofdata”, based ongeological and geophysical information collated bythe Gazpromneft Joint Scientific and Research Centre.
