Devote a week to better health
The UCLA Fielding School of Public Health will mark National Public Health Week 2014 with a series of student-organized events on campus as part of the American Public Health Association’s annual celebration of the role of public health and prevention in our communities.
Events include discussions by leading experts in the field on key issues that affect the health of our communities, including obesity prevention, mental health and the arts, disaster preparedness and health education, as well as healthy social activities such as group biking excursions and a yoga session.
A discussion of public health law and food policy is one of the events being held at UCLA during National Public Health Week, beginning Monday, April 7.
The week will kick off Monday with the first annual Bicycle Tour de UCLA, which will begin at the entrance to the Fielding School of Public Health on Charles E. Young Drive South. Experience the bikeability of UCLA by taking an interactive tour led by the Bicycle Coalition at UCLA and the UCLA Bike Shop.
On Wednesday, there will be a self-reflective yoga session in the UCLA Murphy Sculpture Garden from 6:15 p.m. to 7:15 p.m. Remember to bring your own mat.
