Concurrent with the license, Amarantus has raised $100,000 from a private, foreign investor introduced to the Company by www.tomorrowsbluechips.com.

The NuroPro Blood Test is Power3's diagnostic platform for the early detection of neurodegenerative diseases. It is being developed as a tool to assist physicians to more accurately diagnose disease and monitor progression. The platform involves monitoring the concentration of 57 protein markers in blood serum identified to be linked to neurodegeneration in order to accurately detect and distinguish between Alzheimer's disease, ALS (Lou Gehrig's disease), and Parkinson's disease. Amarantus' license is focused on the further development of a subset of 21 of these protein markers specifically targeting early diagnosis and ongoing monitoring of Parkinson's disease.
The Parkinson's disease application of the NuroPro Blood Test has completed proof-of-concept and Phase 1 clinical validation studies. Amarantus plans to initiate a Phase 2 clinical validation study in the first half of 2012 that is expected to last approximately six months. Management of the trial will be partnered to Power3 as part of its ongoing strategy to build its Clinical Research Organization business unit.

"The in-license of the NuroPro Blood Test for Parkinson's disease expands our product offering as we strive to become the leader in the evaluation and treatment of Parkinson's disease," said Gerald Commissioning, President and CEO of Amarantus BioSciences. "Now that we will be able to tailor our therapeutic development pathway towards a companion diagnostic product that we control, Amarantus is positioned to build a strategic advantage over competitors as the execution of our clinical and regulatory strategy continues to advance MANF as a disease-modifying treatment for Parkinson's disease. The Company was also recently awarded the composition of matter patent for MANF by the US Patent & Trademark Office, further enhancing our position in the field."
Given the length of time it takes to accurately diagnose Parkinson's disease and the relatively high early misdiagnosis rates, the development of a blood-based biomarker test is likely to generate significant interest among neurologists and primary care physicians as it will allow them to intervene at an earlier stage in disease progression. In addition, the NuroPro Blood test for Parkinson's may generate partnering and revenue opportunities for Amarantus.
The terms of the agreement give Amarantus an exclusive license to develop, manufacture, have manufactured, use, market, sell and import medical devices and methods under the Power3 Parkinson's Disease Intellectual Property (IP). In addition, the license provides Amarantus an exclusive, royalty-free, fully paid-up worldwide license to Power3 know-how, patents and patent applications which relate to medical devices and methods for the treatment of neurodegenerative disease as it relates to Parkinson's disease.

Amarantus paid a $25,000 exclusivity fee in common stock on November 11, 2011 and will issue to Power3 $475,000 worth of common stock. In addition, Amarantus has an option to purchase all of the Parkinson's Disease IP owned by Power3 for $500,000 worth of common stock and maintains a Right of First Refusal to acquire the balance of the NuroPro platform for Alzheimer's, ALS and all other neurodegenerative diseases. The initial term of this License Agreement is for one year and is renewable upon mutual written agreement of the parties.

About MANF (Mesencephalic-Astrocyte-derived Neurotrophic Factor)
MANF (Mesencephalic-Astrocyte-derived Neurotrophic Factor) is a protein that corrects protein misfolding, one of the major causes of apoptosis (cell death). This property provides a compelling rationale for the research and development of MANF-based products as therapeutics for human disease. The lead MANF product development effort is centered on a therapy for Parkinson's disease, currently funded by a research grant from the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research. The Company also owns an inventory of 88 cell lines referred to as "PhenoGuard Cell Lines." MANF was the first therapeutic protein discovered from a PhenoGuard Cell Line. It is anticipated that additional therapeutic proteins useful for various therapeutic approaches to the Central Nervous System will be identified from the Company's inventory of PhenoGuard Cell Lines.

About Amarantus BioSciences, Inc.

Amarantus BioSciences, Inc. is a California-based development-stage biotechnology company founded in January 2008. 'Genesis of the World' appears to be a foundational cornerstone for subsequent Scripture. Indeed, religious symbolism may have dawned in southern France with this six meter mural. The star of this magical scene is a Winged Horse! A Universal Holy Being who symbolizes the spiritual bodies of both God and man. Possibly the first religious artifact (predating Noah's Ark and Ark of the Covenant), details now throughout Traditional Lore and Holy Books…. www.culture.gouv.fr/culture/arcnat/chauvet/en/owpt14.htm

*The Horse Cherub's front hoof (artfully tapered/pointed for emphasis) is shown symbolically striking a mountain- gushing forth a waterfall of Inspired Life/Being/Creation. 28,000 years later, the Bible's Book of Genesis records Adam being made from the earth's clay at basically the same time Pegasus of Greco-Roman Lore was credited with "using its front hooves to strike the ground of the earth and generate the Fountain of the Muses- Inspiring the root of all Creativity." (Origins and Consciousness, Erich Neumann) as reported in God's Steed- Key to World Peace.
*The Creator's Steed multitasks- urinating a white cloud of (most certainly) holy, life sustaining water, while fertilizing and seeding the earth. These streams ("previously unexplained parallel lines under the horse") clearly point back to the Steed's most male parts!
*This inspired Parade of Creation continues with the Mammoth White Elephant- who symbolizes the Universal Monarch for Hindus/Buddhists. Incredibly- the Shaman drew a 'parade dress tassel' that springs forward from the high point of this Majestic Beast's front shoulders- indicating body adornment/jewelry, domestication and celebration! Very impressive.
*Resembling the ancient Tarpan wild horse, this Angel of the Lord demonstrates effort and wide eyed determination- its head is lowered and wing(s) swept back. The thick mane crests and falls to the far side of the neck, allowing full view of that stylized wing. Known by many names: Magic Carpet; Tree of Life; Conductor of Souls; Emblem of Atlantis; Wheel; Throne; Unicorn: Christopher (Christ Bearer); Burak; Kalki; Odin's Steed; Paraclete; Guardian Angel- the Holy Books honor this Living Angelic Creature from Creation to the Story of Judgment Day!
*A huge, snooted, earthbound pig/boar looks on facing/confronting this parade. The pig/boar has dual symbolism. This Adversary/Devil/Sloth of the Earth stands ready to tempt, but known in the Orient for luck, prosperity and fertility- it also welcomes/promotes life. Insightful!
*God's Steed is the Creator's Holy Spirit in this Chauvet masterpiece. Located by design in the Hillaire Chamber- it intentionally overlooks the cave's sinkhole. The Shaman used this site's geography, contours, reliefs and spectacular abyss to 'stage' a most complete creation story. This cave's water path exit and darkness are symbolic of the River Styx and Hades/Hell. A vivid reminder of our body's temporary life- and probably used for ceremonial burial. Wow!
*The Angel of the Lord's presence at this original Story of Creation may help explain Genesis 1:26 from the Bible. "Let us make man in our own image after our likeness." Image/likeness here refers to spiritual being, not the temporary body. Angels indeed predate mankind, attending our Creation. The concepts of Angels; Trinity; The Creator's Holy Spirit and Judgment Day are also shared by the Holy Books! God's Steed- Key to World Peace
*The Angelic Horse/Holy Spirit is truly a Big Wheel, who at times travels in that form- do we see it here? They become other symbols: the Circumpunct; Solar Cross; Hindu Swastika; Tree of Life/Paisley and many Crosses. No lost symbol! God's Steed- Key to World Peace
*The Chauvet Grotto features a Noah's Ark variety of animals- appropriate for the Creation theme! Wooly Rhinoceros is the most numerous, but expected- as the single horn symbolizes eternal salvation by pointing the 'Way to Heaven'. Mentioned in the Bible, the legendary Unicorn was born right here, an inspired variation of God's Steed which honors The Creator. The Lone Centaur poses on a hanging rock- symbolizing ascension/enlightenment, the metaphysical unification of Soul and Spirit. Centaurs are present in all religions today. Inspired art of Divine Creation is on display at Chauvet. Enjoy!

God's Steed- Key to World Peace (C) 2011 Breese/D′Aoust is a unique non-fiction that cites Scripture, lore, science, many witnesses and a plethora of cherubim graphics- all confirming the existence of this fine Angelic Beast. Horsefeathers? January 3, 1994: God's Steed visited Breese's living room, who detailed a report to the Church and they knighted him. Chauvet-Pont-d′Arc was discovered December 18th, 1994. Which group bears the greatest risk of stroke?

According to a new study published in the November issue of Neurology, occasional coffee drinkers double their stroke risk in the hour after consuming a cup of coffee. But that risk reverses within two hours.

Scientists theorize that those who drink coffee more frequently develop a tolerance for short-term effects of caffeine. There were no reported similar risks from drinking tea or caffeinated soda, drinks that generally have lower caffeine content than coffee.

The scientific community shares conflicting views over the risks of caffeine intake in general and coffee in particular. Some believe that caffeine's effect on blood pressure increases stiffness in the arteries. Other studies shed doubt on those concerns, and in fact suggest that coffee reduces the risk of developing type 2 diabetes.

For more beverage news, visit Beverage Industry Today (http://beverages.einnews.com), a beverage media monitoring service from EIN News.

Premier Source Of Holiday Cards, Pear Tree Greetings, Announces Blogger 'Pen to Paper' Challenge http://www.einpresswire.com/article/103557-premier-source-of-holiday-cards-pear-tree-greetings-announces-blogger-pen-to-paper-challenge http://www.einpresswire.com/article/103557-premier-source-of-holiday-cards-pear-tree-greetings-announces-blogger-pen-to-paper-challenge Wed, 11 Aug 2010 20:37:10 +0000 Top greeting cards manufacturer, Pear Tree Greetings, launches a new 'Pen to Paper' blogger contest to display the power of the written word. Starbucks New Store in Japan is Designed to Reduce Environmental Impacts http://www.einpresswire.com/article/90209-starbucks-new-store-in-japan-is-designed-to-reduce-environmental-impacts http://www.einpresswire.com/article/90209-starbucks-new-store-in-japan-is-designed-to-reduce-environmental-impacts Mon, 14 Jun 2010 14:10:20 +0000 May 26, 2010 - Starbucks Coffee Company (NASDAQ: SBUX) celebrates the opening of its newest store in Fukuoka, Japan. Inspired by Starbucks Shared Planet, the company's ongoing commitment to ethical sourcing, environmental stewardship and community involvement, the store's design reflects the character of the surrounding neighborhood and helps to reduce environmental impacts. Located at the center of Ohori Park, it is the first Starbucks store in Asia to be registered for LEED certification.

"Our new design approach will reinvigorate customer experience in Asia because it aligns with the evolving lifestyle and values of Asian customers. The Ohori Park store is a good example of how we aspire to cultivate an enhanced sense of community and environmental consciousness. We look forward to bringing this kind of innovation to more customers around the Asia Pacific region," said Andy Adams, vice president, Store Development, Starbucks Coffee Asia Pacific.

The Ohori Park store was constructed and designed to integrate into the existing landscape and to preserve surrounding trees. The design also minimizes energy and water consumption, incorporates locally-sourced and reused or recycled materials, and employs creative methods to inspire partners (employees) and customers to make environmentally responsible decisions in their daily lives. Specific examples include:

* Low table tops were built with reclaimed wood
* Chairs previously used in other stores were reupholstered rather than sent to a landfill
* Coffee grounds produced by the store are used as compost for the surrounding landscape
* Most Forest Stewardship Council certified wood materials were sourced locally in Kyushu
* LED bulbs reduce energy consumption
* Large windows provide natural lighting
* High reflection paint improves heat insulation
* Louver screens and "engawa" style roof overhangs, as well as insulated exterior walls and window frames, are used to block the sun and reduce heating and cooling needs
* Rainwater collected from the roof is used to nourish the landscape and flush toilets

As Starbucks continues to expand in the Asia Pacific region, the company plans to build and renovate stores according to its new global design strategy, with long-term goals related to energy and water conservation, recycling and green construction. Starbucks aims to achieve LEED certification for all of its new company-owned stores beginning later this year. In order to reach this goal, Starbucks is participating in a LEED Volume Certification pilot program that makes broad-scope green building plans feasible by enabling significant cost and time efficiencies. The Ohori Park store is one of 12 Starbucks locations around the world that are participating in the pilot.

For more information about Starbucks environmental goals and recent milestones, visit www.starbucks.com/responsibility2009.

Source: Starbucks

For more Starbucks news, visit Starbucks Daily Report (http://starbucks.einnews.com), a service of EIN News. This means a farmer needs to absorb the production cost while waiting to be able to sell the product as "organic" in a market where buyers are abandoning organic coffee.

Read more at Organic Food News Today

Latin America Organic Food news - http://organicfood.einnews.com/latin-america/

Located at http://organicfood.einnews.com, Organic Food News Today is a service of EIN News, an industry leader in news monitoring for business professionals and analysts. Max Baucus' suggested legislation, front-page stories, headlines, op-eds, talk radio, TV talking heads and blogs chronicle and wrangle over proposals to change America's medical insurance. Republicans fight Democrats, liberals battle conservatives.

U.S. Rep. Joe Wilson interrupts the President during a joint session of Congress and "teabagger" protesters denounce Obama for plotting "death panels" and big government takeover of America's healthcare. Progressives endorse single payer, while the public option, a co-op plan, doing nothing at all, etc., are debated.
Amidst all this sound and fury something crucial is overlooked: prevention. One commentator who hasn't neglected this essential factor is comedian Bill Maher, host of HBO's "Real Time." During the presidential race Maher observed on his cable TV program, "none of the [candidates'] plans address the real problem. We won't stop being sick until we stop making ourselves sick. Because there is a point where even the most universal government health program can't help you. They can't outlaw unhealthy food or alcohol... "

Maher added, "the government isn't your nanny." Indeed, even if Washington insures everyone, individuals pursuing unhealthy lifestyles can fall ill. As Maher observed: "Fifty years ago, children didn't even get Type 2 Diabetes. Now, it's an emerging epidemic. As are a long list of ailments which used to be rare... " (A 2004 Journal of the American Medical Association report found: "Higher consumption of sugar-sweetened beverages is associated with ... weight gain and an increased risk for development of type 2 diabetes in women... ")

In his televised rant, Maher asserted, "diet and exercise don't fail ... [A] new Duke University study showed exercise ... is just as effective a cure for depression as Paxil and Zoloft ... [I]f Republicans can sell the idea of preemptive war, Democrats have to at least get us interested in ... preventive medicine."
The HBO humorist's notion is older than the U.S. In 18th-century colonial America Dr. Benjamin Franklin noted: "An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure." While universal health insurance may be worthwhile, individuals must also be active participants in their own wellness, instead of passive victims complicit in their sicknesses.

The Dr. Chao Herbal Drink Line is a healthy soft drink alternative consisting of beverages that are 100% natural and vegan, without sugar, caffeine, calories, glutens, artificial sweeteners or preservatives, and which feature a variety of health benefits. It is safe to drink Dr. Chao's Herbal Beverage every day as much as you want without any limitations. The eponymous Dr. Chao refers to U.S. People Foods & Beverages Company President Ted Chao's illustrious ancestor, Baoyin Chao, a famous herbalist from Guizhou Province in Southwest China who, in the 1870s, was a sort of Asian Gregor Mendel or George Washington Carver.

Ted and his family, which includes three brothers and a sister, followed in his famous great-great-grandfather's footsteps. When Ted grew up, his family "always used the herbs for nutrition and treatment, and knew their uses very well." The family established a hospital, institute, clinic and herbal school at Guizhou, where Ted started working in 1989 when he was 24, after graduating with a master's degree from Guiyang College of Traditional Chinese Medicine in Guizhou's capital.

Among those who believe soda is an addictive silent killer loaded with sugar, preservatives, carbs and often caffeine responsible for much of America's obesity and diabetes epidemics is Chinese herbalist Ted Chao. Previously herbs - plants with healing properties from Mother Nature's "pharmacy" -- were consumed in tablet, pill or powder form. But drawing upon his family's herbal heritage, as well as China's 5,000-year-old medical tradition, Ted has rendered herb-based recipes into liquid form that can be consumed in eight-ounce flip top recyclable tab cans.

By 2007, Ted had come to America and was thinking how to make "the consumption of herbs more convenient for consumers." The Chinese entrepreneurial herbalist started working with the Northern California-based National Food Laboratory, which, according to its website, is "a consulting organization specializing in transforming inspiration and experience into innovative food and beverage development." Ted and the NFL looked into the best way to preserve the herb's beneficial properties while providing convenience for users. Ultimately, they hit upon the idea of liquefying the herbs, and the Dr. Chao Herbal Drink Line was born. While the actual herbs are grown in China, they are imported to the U.S.A. and are processed into soft drinks at a FDA certified beverage factory in Wisconsin that also produces V8 juice.

Doctor Baoyin Chao spent years in the mountains studying the properties of herbs, applied his knowledge to a practice that included thousands of patients and compiled a sort of herbal encyclopedia. The formulas for the Dr. Chao Herbal Drink Line are derived from this manuscript, which consists of hundreds of pages of parchment, containing handwritten recipes in Chinese characters. Ted joked that if this writer read Chinese, he would not have shown the loosely bound pages to him. Like the Kentucky Colonel's "secret recipe" for Col. Sanders' "finger lickin' good" chicken (which, by the way, includes 11 herbs and spices), Ted refuses to disclose and publish the closely guarded formulations of his forebear, a sacred family text that remains a patented trade secret.

However, in an interview at the Claremont, California headquarters of the firm he is the president of, U.S. People Foods & Beverages Company.Ted revealed the recipes, properties and benefits of the Dr. Chao Herbal Drink Line. " 'Lady Drink,' as its name implies, is designed specifically for females. This is as an anti-menstrual pain, anti-PMS, herbal detox beauty drink with anti-oxidants for removing impurities from women's internal systems," Mr. Chao explains. "Lady Drink improves facial skin. It excretes toxic substances, has anti-aging benefits, promotes blood circulation and ovarian health, regulates the endocrine system, and enhances kidney and liver functions. It also helps reduce weight and alleviates acne." USPFB's president adds that Lady Drink is made with Herba Leonuri (Motherwort Herb), Saffron, aloe and Fructus Momordicae.

"The 'Stress Reliever' alleviates symptoms caused by stress, such as headaches, insomnia, irritability and back pain," Ted explained. "It has Cordyceps [caterpillar fungus], saffron, Fructus Momordicae [Grosvenor Momordica fruit] and Herba Hyperici Japonici [St. John's Wort], Herba Houttuyniae (Heartleaf), Rubus Suavissmus (Sweet Leaf Extract), and Lavender."

The "Adult Drink," Ted said, " is similar to Viagra, but in a natural way. It's designed to increase sexual health, by stimulating the healthy production of sexual hormones and glands, and combats sexual exhaustion." The herbs in this concoction include Herba Epimedii, which, in English is called, appropriately enough, Horny Goat Weed.

According to Ted, a fourth drink named "21" will be on the market by the end of 2009 with a most practical function that could have come in handy in that popular 2009 comedy, "The Hangover": curing the effects of overdrinking. Down the road, U.S.P.F.B. plans to introduce herbal-based foods, such as "herbal ice cream, which will be as sweet as normal ice cream - but without sugar," Ted said. U.S.P.F.B. also intends to grow its own herbs here in the U.S.A. as well as to expand its distribution beyond the health and organic food stores, such as Whole Foods Market and Clarks Nutrition & Natural Foods Market, where the Dr. Chao Herbal Drinks are currently sold.

Ted's master plan is to bring the wisdom of the East to the West, in the shape of healthy soft drinks that can replace sugary, syrupy sodas and the like. "I want to introduce herbal drinks to the whole world. When the public knows the value of herb drinks, they will love it," he insisted. Although well aware that alternative beverages are obviously not the sole solution to America's medical insurance dilemmas, the Chinese herbalist believes that by being proactive in their own wellbeing and choosing to consume healthful products, Americans can avoid pitfalls such as diabetes and obesity. "Herbs can supplement healthcare," proclaimed Ted.

This great-great-grandson of a venerable Chinese herbal doctor hopes that his herbal ambrosia will have an impact similar to how the introduction of the ancient Chinese science of acupuncture affected healing practices in the Western world. If, as Ben Franklin observed, "An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure," then as far as Ted Chao is concerned, the Dr. Chao Herbal Drink Line provides eight herbal ounces of preventive healthcare per can.

--By Ed Rampell

U.S. People Foods & Beverages Company
Contact Information:
Web:www.uspfb.com
Toll Free: (877)2DR-CHAO
Email: info@uspfb.com
