With 22% of the electricity used in the Middle East is spent on lighting, the use of energy-efficient solutions will significantly reduce energy consumption around the world and thereby cut harmful CO2 emissions.

Philips is proud to be the Gold Sponsor for the Arab Future Cities Summit. The Summit is an international gathering of city leaders, Government officials, city developers, academicians and urban service providers and city development experts to share strategies, insights and best practices to implement a smart and sustainable future for the cities of tomorrow. It gives a direction in urban planning and development with an emphasis on effective utilization of resources.

The objective of the summit is to facilitate an international platform to discuss the ways for the transfer of knowledge, know how and to reflect on technological and social innovations and transformations that are arising in cities.

Many municipalities around the world are exploring the Smart City concept as a way to make themselves better places to live, work, and grow. There is a growing consensus that information and communications technology (ICT) will play a critical role in creating sustainable cities of the future.

The concept of Smart Cities is gaining increasingly high importance as a means of making available all the services and applications enabled by ICT to citizens, companies and authorities that are part of a city's system. It aims to increase citizens' quality of life and improve the efficiency and quality of the services provided by governing entities and businesses. This perspective requires an integrated vision of a city and of its infrastructures, in all its components, and extends beyond the mere "digitalisation" of information and communication: it has to incorporate a number of dimensions that are not related to technology, e.g., the social and political ones.

Many cities are working on installing municipal wireless networks, implementing e-government initiatives by providing access to city departments and initiatives through websites, integrating public transportation with intelligent transportation systems, or developing ways to cut their carbon footprints and reduce the amount of recyclables consigned to the trash heap.

For more information on the Arab Future Cities Summit, visit http://www.arabfuturecities.com or call Expotrade on +9714-4542135 GreenJobs Predict A Bright Future For The Green Employment Market http://www.einpresswire.com/article/634545-greenjobs-predict-a-bright-future-for-the-green-employment-market http://www.einpresswire.com/article/634545-greenjobs-predict-a-bright-future-for-the-green-employment-market Wed, 14 Dec 2011 08:45:10 +0000 /EINPresswire.com/ GreenJobs predict a bright future for the green employment market by launching 4 specialist job boards targeting candidates and organisations in the conservation, environmental, renewable energy and solar sectors.

GreenJobs Limited (http://www.greenjobs.co.uk) has launched four new specialist job boards that will cater for candidates and organisations in the following sectors - Conservation Jobs, Environmental Jobs, Renewable Energy Jobs and Solar Jobs. These new websites will complement and be integrated with the existing GreenJobs and WindJobs websites and will become part of the GreenJobs network of websites. The four new websites will promote both United Kingdom and international job opportunities.

From a candidates perspective the four new websites have been designed to be extremely user friendly and intuitive to use. As well as benefiting from standard features such as "Job alerts by email" and "Email a friend" the new websites have incorporated "Smartsearch" technology in their design. This ensures that job seekers find the exact type of vacancy that they are looking for as well as receiving automatic recommendations on other suitable positions. The new websites have over thirty five job categories available for candidates to search and coupled with the introduction of job type specific landing pages this makes it quicker and easier for candidates to find the type of job they desire.

From a recruiters perspective the candidate management system has been designed to be extremely user friendly and gives the recruiter full control of their recruitment campaign as well as being easy to integrate with multi-posting software providers. The recruiter can easily manage their recruitment process with functionality such as being able to post, edit and delete their job postings. Recruiters are also able to pre-qualify candidates by asking them to complete a number of important questions when they apply to a job they have listed. From a recruiters point of view the introduction of over thirty five different job categories makes it more effective for recruiters to promote their job opportunities to both passive and active jobseekers via the "Job alerts by email" system. The new websites have been integrated into the existing GreenJobs network of websites and this means that when a recruiter posts a job onto any of the four new websites it can be automatically uploaded to our other websites at no extra cost if it is suitable. These include - http://www.conservationjobsuk.com, http://www.environmentaljobsuk.com, http://www.greenjobs.co.uk, http://www.renewableenergyjobsuk.com, http://www.solarjobsuk.com and http://www.windjobsuk.com

In order to give clients a wider potential audience for their job postings the four new websites have developed a talent finder network in partnership with some of the most popular and best known generalist job boards. This talent finder network means that when a job is posted on these websites it will also automatically be posted onto a number of other job boards and social media platforms including Businessgreenjobs, Facebook, Indeed, Linkedin, Mitula, Workhound, Trovit and Twitter.

Jonathan Kyle (Director of Strategy) - "The development of four new websites that cater specifically for job opportunities in the conservation, environmental, renewable energy and solar sectors was primarily driven by feedback from candidates and clients. They specified their desire for specialist job boards that catered for their exact employment and career requirements. Indeed we worked with a number of our clients and candidates throughout the website development process to ensure that the finished websites were to the standard that they required. The initial feedback has been extremely positive in terms of the websites functionality, navigation and ease of use. From GreenJobs perspective it gave us a great opportunity to increase our market share in the Green job board market while attracting more suitably experienced candidates for our clients and promoting more relevant job opportunities to our candidates."

About ConservationJobs

ConservationJobs (http://www.conservationjobsuk.com) is a job board wholly dedicated to recruitment in the conservation sector. Blue Sky Solar designed and built the plant for client Air Products corporate campus in Allentown, Pennsylvania.

Blue Sky Solar designed and built the plant for client Air Products corporate campus in Allentown, Pennsylvania. The testing was conducted in accordance with pre-defined testing and measurement protocols and analysis and computation methods.

Online monitoring of the system can be viewed at http://live.deckmonitoring.com/?id=air_products.

Blue Sky Solar CEO Bruce Carlson, Vice-Chairman Jim Cooke, VP Project Developer Brady Kelly and Engineer Carlos Romero were on hand July 12th when John McGlade, Chairman and CEO of Air Products, flipped an oversized switch and, as The Beatle's "Here Comes the Sun" filled the air, powered up the 15 acre, 2MW solar farm.

More than 500 Corporate and Government guests attended the ceremony, marking the completion of the largest silicon thin-film solar energy plant in the United States.

Blue Sky Solar, chosen by Air Products to be the project's turnkey installer, worked with Newkirk Electric Associates, which provided the mechanical and electrical construction; Newkirk was previously the primary contractor for the DeSoto Florida Power and Light 27MW PV solar complex, one of the largest operational solar PV plants in North America.

In early engineering work, Blue Sky optimized the solar field size by precise balancing of the inverters.

Consequently Air Products will now generate about 2MW of electricity rather than the previously announced 1.5MW. Now producing 2MW of renewable power, Air Products field reduces the company's dependence on purchased electricity, thereby lowering its carbon dioxide (CO2) footprint by approximately 2,000 tons per year. Clean solar energy will now power half of the company's six administrative buildings, saving $250,000 in annual energy costs.

Construction on the 15-acre site began in October, 2010. Blue Sky Solar installed a total of 11,239 silicon, tandem junction thin-film photovoltaic (PV) panels, manufactured by Astronergy and ENN Solar, both Air Products customers. In every phase of construction Blue Sky Solar developed and utilized innovative, cost-saving installation methods and balance-of-system components to significantly lower project costs.

"Blue Sky Solar working with Air Products is a great combination as it reinforces both companies'
commitment to provide money saving solutions in solar manufacturing as well as the all-in cost of an
installed farm" said Bruce Carlson, Blue Sky CEO.

Blue Sky Solar LLC (http//www.blueskysolar.com), headquartered in Celebration, Florida is a provider of turnkey commercial and utility scale solar energy installations. The company strives to persistently source innovative and reliable solutions, which in turn can lower the cost of solar PV in all areas: manufacturing, installation, operations and maintenance. Our stated goal is to hasten the adoption of clean, reliable solar energy by lowering its cost.

Tanika Mosely
Blue Sky Solar LLC
407 557-2719
www.blueskysolar.com

PR Courtesy of Online PR Media: http://bit.ly/raJSIE FRENCH CANADIAN EXPERT D'AOUST DISCOVERS ANGEL IN CHAUVET CAVE! http://www.einpresswire.com/article/524314-french-canadian-expert-d-aoust-discovers-angel-in-chauvet-cave http://www.einpresswire.com/article/524314-french-canadian-expert-d-aoust-discovers-angel-in-chauvet-cave Tue, 06 Sep 2011 18:25:20 +0000 /EINPresswire.com/Over 30,000 years ago, a spectacular Story of Creation was finger-puttied into the cave wall of Chauvet's Hillaire Chamber. 'Genesis of the World' appears to be a foundational cornerstone for subsequent Scripture. Indeed, religious symbolism may have dawned in southern France with this six meter mural. The star of this magical scene is a Winged Horse! A Universal Holy Being who symbolizes the spiritual bodies of both God and man. Possibly the first religious artifact (predating Noah's Ark and Ark of the Covenant), details now throughout Traditional Lore and Holy Books…. www.culture.gouv.fr/culture/arcnat/chauvet/en/owpt14.htm

*The Horse Cherub's front hoof (artfully tapered/pointed for emphasis) is shown symbolically striking a mountain- gushing forth a waterfall of Inspired Life/Being/Creation. 28,000 years later, the Bible's Book of Genesis records Adam being made from the earth's clay at basically the same time Pegasus of Greco-Roman Lore was credited with "using its front hooves to strike the ground of the earth and generate the Fountain of the Muses- Inspiring the root of all Creativity." (Origins and Consciousness, Erich Neumann) as reported in God's Steed- Key to World Peace.
*The Creator's Steed multitasks- urinating a white cloud of (most certainly) holy, life sustaining water, while fertilizing and seeding the earth. These streams ("previously unexplained parallel lines under the horse") clearly point back to the Steed's most male parts!
*This inspired Parade of Creation continues with the Mammoth White Elephant- who symbolizes the Universal Monarch for Hindus/Buddhists. Incredibly- the Shaman drew a 'parade dress tassel' that springs forward from the high point of this Majestic Beast's front shoulders- indicating body adornment/jewelry, domestication and celebration! Very impressive.
*Resembling the ancient Tarpan wild horse, this Angel of the Lord demonstrates effort and wide eyed determination- its head is lowered and wing(s) swept back. The thick mane crests and falls to the far side of the neck, allowing full view of that stylized wing. Known by many names: Magic Carpet; Tree of Life; Conductor of Souls; Emblem of Atlantis; Wheel; Throne; Unicorn: Christopher (Christ Bearer); Burak; Kalki; Odin's Steed; Paraclete; Guardian Angel- the Holy Books honor this Living Angelic Creature from Creation to the Story of Judgment Day!
*A huge, snooted, earthbound pig/boar looks on facing/confronting this parade. The pig/boar has dual symbolism. This Adversary/Devil/Sloth of the Earth stands ready to tempt, but known in the Orient for luck, prosperity and fertility- it also welcomes/promotes life. Insightful!
*God's Steed is the Creator's Holy Spirit in this Chauvet masterpiece. Located by design in the Hillaire Chamber- it intentionally overlooks the cave's sinkhole. The Shaman used this site's geography, contours, reliefs and spectacular abyss to 'stage' a most complete creation story. This cave's water path exit and darkness are symbolic of the River Styx and Hades/Hell. A vivid reminder of our body's temporary life- and probably used for ceremonial burial. Wow!
*The Angel of the Lord's presence at this original Story of Creation may help explain Genesis 1:26 from the Bible. "Let us make man in our own image after our likeness." Image/likeness here refers to spiritual being, not the temporary body. Angels indeed predate mankind, attending our Creation. The concepts of Angels; Trinity; The Creator's Holy Spirit and Judgment Day are also shared by the Holy Books! God's Steed- Key to World Peace
*The Angelic Horse/Holy Spirit is truly a Big Wheel, who at times travels in that form- do we see it here? They become other symbols: the Circumpunct; Solar Cross; Hindu Swastika; Tree of Life/Paisley and many Crosses. No lost symbol! God's Steed- Key to World Peace
*The Chauvet Grotto features a Noah's Ark variety of animals- appropriate for the Creation theme! Wooly Rhinoceros is the most numerous, but expected- as the single horn symbolizes eternal salvation by pointing the 'Way to Heaven'. Mentioned in the Bible, the legendary Unicorn was born right here, an inspired variation of God's Steed which honors The Creator. The Lone Centaur poses on a hanging rock- symbolizing ascension/enlightenment, the metaphysical unification of Soul and Spirit. Centaurs are present in all religions today. Inspired art of Divine Creation is on display at Chauvet. California bounces back after judge orders AB 32 review http://www.einpresswire.com/article/429687-california-bounces-back-after-judge-orders-ab-32-review http://www.einpresswire.com/article/429687-california-bounces-back-after-judge-orders-ab-32-review Thu, 26 May 2011 18:29:03 +0000 /EINPresswire.com/ California's carbon markets have responded positively to a San Francisco judge's ruling that ordered further analysis from the California Air Resources Board (ARB) on alternatives to the state's cap-and-trade scheme, say brokers.

On Monday, the ARB appealed the decision and the office of the state attorney general simultaneously issued a stay to allow the agency to continue preparations for the scheme while the case is with the appeal court.

Allan Bedwell, vice-president and director of global sustainability strategies at San Francisco-based brokers CantorCO2e, said: "We are seeing an increased level of transactions in the market, which we believe are being spurred by the judge's ruling and the appeal."

"We look at the developments over the last couple of days as providing greater regulatory certainty for the marketplace and expect the ARB to move forward on some critical milestones to get closer to finalising the programme for launch in 2012."

The California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) requires government agencies to consider the impacts and alternatives before approving any plan or policy. Judge Ernest Goldsmith ruled last Friday that the ARB had "committed a prejudicial abuse of discretion" under CEQA and failed to adequately analyse alternatives to cap and trade. The judge denied the other challenges to AB 32, California's climate legislation.

An ARB spokesman said: "ARB is working on a revised scoping plan alternatives analysis that will fully address the issues raised in the court's decision. All interested stakeholders will have an opportunity to participate in the conversation about California's clean energy future. We intend to bring the revised analysis to the board for consideration as soon as possible."

But in remarks made at the Ceres conference in California earlier this month, the ARB's chairwoman Mary Nichols ruled out a carbon tax or further regulations.

"In the AB 32 plan itself we devoted three pages worth of discussion to other alternatives to cap and trade such as taxes - we did devote very little time to that because it's not going to happen - or additional regulations which we dismissed as not as feasible as the cap-and-trade programme."

The Friday ruling could have further delayed critical work, such as allocation of allowances, ahead of the scheme's launch in January 2012.

But the stay ordered by the office of the recently appointed state attorney, Kamala Harris, will allow the ARB's preparations to continue.

David Nussbaum, a director at Evolution Markets, a brokerage firm based in White Plains, New York, said that "the Californian allowance contract was actually bid up yesterday morning".

Nussbaum praised the ARB for its "efficient" response but added that businesses were becoming increasingly frustrated. "The one thing that these covered entities want is some guidance as to what is coming down the pipe. Knowing what their allocation is going to be is probably one of the most important factors for them."

The Association of Irritated Residents brought the challenge to the cap and trade programme because of concerns that cap and trade would enable large emitters to increase local pollution.

Hear more about California's carbon markets at the Climate Finance North America 2011 conference in New York, June 14 & 15 - for details please go to http://www.environmental-finance.com/events/view/32
Biogas is essential in providing a renewable energy source for the future http://www.einpresswire.com/article/358934-biogas-is-essential-in-providing-a-renewable-energy-source-for-the-future http://www.einpresswire.com/article/358934-biogas-is-essential-in-providing-a-renewable-energy-source-for-the-future Wed, 23 Mar 2011 15:02:35 +0000 Biogas
13th - 14th June
Copthorne Tara Hotel, London

Biogas is essential in providing a renewable energy source for the future.

The need for a sustainable and renewable energy source is imperative to meet the growing global energy demand. Courtney is running against incumbent Alderman Walter Burnett, Jr.

CHICAGO, ILLINOIS -- U.S. Green Technology has recognized Tom Courtney for his efforts in improving the Chicago River through his River Walk idea. If elected, Courtney plans to work toward the redevelopment of the Industrial Corridor in the 27th Ward to provide jobs as well as to revitalize the area along the Chicago River.

The River Walk Project would re-commission the land for use as a River Walk Casino and encourage the development of local businesses in the 27th Ward. It would make the Industrial Corridor environmentally friendly by re-purposing the land for commercial use and reducing the amount of industrial waste being poured into the river.

The Chicago River, which has been degraded through residential and industrial development, is one of the most polluted rivers in the United States. There are several freshwater fish that are prevalent in the river including large-mouth bass, blue gill and catfish. However, fishermen have been warned by the State of Illinois not to eat the fish due to PCB and mercury contamination. A do not eat advisory has been issue for carp that are larger than 12 inches.

"Protecting the environment should be an issue at the forefront of everyone's mind," said Tom Courtney, 27th Ward Alderman Candidate (http://www.courtneyforchicago.com). "New standards for the Chicago River are on the horizon, but we should make the effort now for it to be a cleaner and safer resource."

Courtney, who is challenging controversial incumbent Alderman Walter Burnett, Jr., has suggested some of the additional revenue for the City through the River Walk project could be used to pay for a water treatment plant that would improve the water quality. Our area is so rich in cultural resources but when times get financially tough they tend to lose the funding so desperately needed to foster a diverse cultural community.

The recent relocation of Perkins+Will, an Architectural firm in DC, left the company with a surplus of furniture and equipment. In an effort to be responsible with their resources, Perkins+Will joined up with Etreev and sold or donated 100% of their items. A majority of the materials went to local arts programs, The Torpedo Factory in Alexandria, and The Lorton Workhouse Arts Center in Lorton. Together, these art centers house over 300 area artists and offer educational courses in hopes to provide a diversity of artistic expression and experience.

"Art is an important facet of our culture. When the economy goes south, the arts often suffer the first cuts. I am pleased Perkins+Will was able to contribute to the needs of our local arts community," said Gregory Korthase, President of Etreev. Perkins+Will also donated items to Habitat for Humanity Potomac, and Treasures for Life, an area thrift shop that supports local charities including the Brain Foundation and Life Line, Inc.

According to Mr. Korthase, over 21 tons of the material was diverted from the landfill and over 53 metric tons of greenhouse gases were eliminated. Every American produces an average of 4.5 pounds of waste a day. This collaboration allowed Perkins Will to reduce the equivalent of waste produced by 9,527 people in one day.

Etreev is a local sustainability consulting firm committed to saving customers money, time, energy and helping the environment by making reuse easy.
